Jonathan Quick’s postgame thoughts…
(on his shootout success…)
QUICK: “Those can go either way, honestly. We’re extremely fortunate as a team this year, the way they’ve been turning out. At the end of the day, it’s two points. That’s all that matters.”
(on his poke-check in the shootout…)
QUICK: “He kind of had his head down. He was really sort of taking his time, so I saw an opportunity and I tried to jump on it. It’s kind of a hit-or-miss play. If I miss there, I’m pretty much going to have a five-hole wide open, so I was fortunate it worked out the way it did.”
(on the 5-on-3 penalty kill…)
QUICK: “Obviously it’s great. I think our PK has been great. The up-ice pressure, not letting them get set up as easily, I think it has been frustrating teams a bit. Shot blocking, clearing pucks, winning draws in the zone, everything. It’s been really great, and I think that does give the team a bit of a momentum swing in our direction when we get some big kills like that.”
(on the road-trip success so far…)
QUICK: “But at the end of the day, we’re not where we want to be, so we’ve got to keep building. You mention how we could have stumbled here, with the road trip, but also we could have had a homestand last month that went differently. So, at the end of the day, I think it’s starting to even up a little bit. We’ve still got to fight for that playoff spot. It’s a real tight conference right now, and we’ve got to battle every night.”
