Postgame notes (Feb. 12)

Some notes from today’s game…

— The Kings recorded at least one point in their eighth consecutive game as they beat the Washington Capitals 4-1 on Saturday afternoon at Verizon Center.

— The Kings are 6-0-2 in their last eight games and have outscored opponents by a margin of 21-13 in those games.

— The Kings have allowed three or fewer goals in 14 consecutive games and have allowed two or fewer goals in six of their last seven games and 12 of their last 14 games.

— Five games into their run of 10 consecutive road games, the Kings have claimed eight of a possible 10 points.

— The Kings outshot the Capitals 28-23, including 15-7 in the second period.

— The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. It was the second consecutive game in which the Kings neither scored nor allowed a power-play goal.

— Jonathan Bernier made 22 saves after he allowed Alexander Ovechkin’s goal on the first shot of the game. Bernier has now allowed two or fewer goals in four consecutive starts and has allowed a total of five goals in his last 12 periods.

— The Kings are now 13-13-2 on the road — returning to .500 on the road for the first time since mid-November — 8-14-3 when allowing the first goal and 3-7-1 when trailing after the first period. They’re also 9-5-1 against Eastern Conference teams.

— Anze Kopitar had one goal and one assist. Kopitar had one goal in his previous 20 games. It was Kopitar’s 14th multi-point game of the season and his first since Jan. 6. The Kings have a 12-3-0 record this season when Kopitar scores a goal.

— Michal Handzus had one goal and one assist in his first full game this season as a left winger. It was Handzus’ second multi-point game of the season.

— Andrei Loktionov had one goal, his second goal in nine games since being recalled from the AHL. Loktionov returned to his natural position of center on Saturday.

— Jarret Stoll had one goal and now has two goals in his last two games.

— Wayne Simmonds had two assists. It was Simmonds’ first multi-assist game of the season and his third multi-point game of the season. Simmonds had not recorded a point in his previous eight games.

— Matt Greene had one assist. Greene now has five assists in 44 games. He had seven assists in 75 games last season.

— Kyle Clifford had one assist. Clifford broke an eight-game streak without a point.

— Justin Williams had one assist. Williams has one goal and four assists in his last three games.

— Ryan Smyth had one assist. Smyth has recorded an assist in three consecutive games.

— Andrei Loktionov was credited with a game-high five shots on goal. Dustin Brown was credited with a team-high six hits and Matt Greene was credited with a team-high five blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty led the Kings in ice time at 24 minutes, 28 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards at 19:28.

— The Kings won 27 of 44 faceoffs (61 percent). Anze Kopitar won 10 of 14 draws (71 percent).
