Here’s a sampling of how last night’s Kings-Penguins game was presented in the Pittsburgh media, followed by some additional postgame quotes from Penguins coach Dan Bylsma…

COACH DAN BYLSMA
(on the performance of the young players…)
BYLSMA: “I thought that the line of Dustin Jeffrey, Brett Sterling and Nick Johnson, in the first period, was our best. They would come out, got us the goal to start off with three plays. On the second play, Dustin made a great pass to a great spot up to Brett; it was a great goal. Then after that effort, Los Angeles scored and got that one back. We get them out on the next shift and we get a really good chance with Johnson on the forecheck, and Brett went to the back door and almost got us on the board there.

“Then they make another nice play and it ends up with Dustin going to the net. They did some really good things. I thought Nick Johnson was really good. He showed his speed and did some really good things in the defensive zone. He was an affective guy. Brett Sterling played some meaningful minutes and gets his goal. Joe Vitale and Ryan Craig all had situations where they delivered for us, corrected the penalty kill. They did a great job stepping in. There were a lot of big contributions from guys that we just recently called up.”

(on the game…)
BYLSMA: “I liked the way we came out after the kill and got a goal. That was a boost for the bench. It was a boost for the team. Then there were points in the game when we really battled in the defensive zone. Our defense played a well-oiled game back there. Zbynek Michalek was excellent. Paul Martin played well. Brooks Orpik had a Game 5 in the 2008 Finals type of shift in overtime. Marc Andre-Fleury found a way to scratch out some opportunities. We had a chance right at the end of the game, and in typical Rob Scuderi fashion he made a big save for them to take it into overtime, then Jordan Staal comes in big for us. It’s a big team win. There were a lot of contributions from a lot of different guys. The defense played very well. We have the two points, and we’ll move onto New York tomorrow.”
