Rob Scuderi’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
SCUDERI: “You’ve got to give them credit at times, but for the most part, I thought it was mental mistakes on our part. … At least we got a point, but ultimately, this is a game we should have had.”
(on a video tribute and ovation from the crowd…)
SCUDERI: “That was a classy move by a great organization. I certainly appreciate that.”
Substance? Way to go Scuds. I expect the next interview to say they didn’t play a full 60 minutes.

Scuds is the man. A class act. He told it like it was. Defense ultimately wins championships. Except for some unlucky pucks in the crease and some outstanding D by Malchalek(sic) this game was a two pointer. We’ll take the point to the bank right now but we’ve got two stacked teams ahead and we’re going to have to slug it out with the teams in the West. It is a lot more interesting watching games at this time of year when there is a playoff birth at stake. I guess we’re going to truly see what this team is capable of. Last year we were jockeying for playoff position. This year the guys are going to have to dig deeper. Kopitar and Doughty need to carry this team. I think Doughty is ready. I have concerns about Kopitar. I guess in the end it really doesn’t matter because I can’t do a damn thing about it. Pissing and moaning on the couch has lost its appeal.

the sad thing is we are going to be losing our best players in the next few years..Williams,Scuds,Smyth,Mitchell,Poni (yes Poni…he is a 20 goal scorer in another system)….. and Cliffy,Lewis,Richardson,etc are not going to be big time players…. imo….

@neil, I feel like some players owe us for overpaying them and should allow us to under pay them. Williams should get 3.2 next year. Smyth should get 3 when he is due. Handzus should get 1.5. Kopitar should get 5 in 8 years. Brown is the only Kings player that is significantly underpaid. For all of his philosophizing, DL should go to school and take a few debating classes.

@neil,
Don’t underestimate Lewis and Clifford. Did you see Cliffords shot from the slot? Not bad for a rookie 19 year old 3rd line winger.
How about the pass Lewis made up the slot to Poni. Would have been a assist if it went to anyone but Poni.

Kopitar and Doughty have great statistics this year. But we need elite stats. We need a 100 point 1st liner and a 70 point D man. Doughty? Kopitar? You’re up to bat. Dig deep. We know Clifford and Martinez aren’t going to do it. (No offense to Martinez, who looks very collected out there).

10 out of 17. That’s how many 1 goal games this team has played since January 1rst. The 7 games with a 2 or more goal differential, the record is 4-1-2. The 10 games with a 1 goal differential the record is 3-5-2. The Kings need some seperation offensively, because their losing the close ones right now.
This team has got to start attacking agressively, and taking over games more consistantly if they want to make the playoffs.

Another impressive game for Loki. The kid keeps coming, so would Moeller if ever he was called up. I think Murray has something against him. Give me speed against roughness any day. The Montreal Canadians of the 60′s and the 70′s proved that.They were small and fast.
