Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the playoff-atmosphere nature of the game…)
MURRAY: “It got intense at times. There’s a lot of heavy play, board play, whenever you play the Calgary Flames. It looked like two teams, to me, that have been playing some hockey on the road. They’re coming back. The game, at times, to me, was very sloppy. There were pucks not being handled properly, and turnovers by both teams that, I think, are uncharacteristic. I can’t speak for anybody else. I just want to speak for our own team. We just have to go back home, get some practice time in and clean up a bunch of things before we get back on the road, because we’d never get another two points out of it, going through a game like that.”

(on managing five points in the last three games…)
MURRAY: “It’s great to get the points, no question. It’s a critical time of the year to put some points on the board and keep climbing in the standings. It’s the first time in five years that the L.A. Kings have got any points, two points, out of here. For that, we’re happy, but we know we’ve got to get back to work right away.”

(on how much attention he put on the 10-game losing streak…)
MURRAY: “Basically, just bringing it up in the team meeting and make everybody aware of it. If you’re going to win in this building, you always have to play a very hard and heavy, gritty game. I thought that, at times, we were playing that way. Other times, we got a little careless. In the third period, we weren’t too bad. We seemed to check a little bit better. But as I said, for us, we’ve got to go back home, get a couple days of hard practice and get our game in order again.”

(on the shootout lineup…)
MURRAY: “Changed the shootout lineup. There were a couple very nice goals by both teams. Bourque starts it off. That was a tremendous shot. At the end of the day, Williams came through for us, and we got our two points.”

(on the power play…}
MURRAY: “The power play is starting to come around. We made a few changes on that, to give us a different look, and we’re starting to get more of a shot mentality. The 5-on-3 is something we wish we would have taken advantage of here tonight, but in general it’s improving.”
