Postgame notes (Feb. 2)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings recorded their fifth consecutive win in Edmonton, as they beat the Oilers 3-1 on Thursday night.

— After a 1-4-0 skid, the Kings are now 4-0-1 in their last five games.

— The Kings reached the three-goal mark in regulation for the second time in their last eight games. This season, the Kings have a 23-6-0 when they score at least three goals in a game.

— The Kings have now allowed two or fewer regulation goals in eight of their last nine games, and they have allowed a total of 14 regulation goals in those nine games. This season, the Kings are 22-6-1 when they allow fewer than three goals in a game.

— The Kings went 2-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-5 on the penalty kill. The Kings had been 1-for-28 on the power play in their previous games, but scored multiple power-play goals in a game for the seventh time this season. The Kings are 13-for-13 on the penalty kill in their last four games.

— The Oilers outshot the Kings 33-26, including 12-5 in the first period. The Kings had allowed fewer than 30 shots on goal in nine of their previous 10 games.

— Jonathan Quick stopped 32 of 33 shots and won his fourth consecutive decision. Quick has allowed two or fewer goals in five of his last six starts, and has allowed a total of three goals in his last nine periods.

— The Kings improved to 11-13-2 on the road, 7-14-2 when allowing the first goal and 16-0-0 when leading after the second period.

— Drew Doughty was credited with two power-play goals, for his first multi-goal game of the season. Three of Doughty’s six goals this season have come against Edmonton. Doughty had only one previous power-play goal this season. It was the first time this season that Doughty had multiple points on the power play and, overall, it was his ninth multi-point game of the season.

— Jack Johnson had an even-strength goal and two power-play assists. The goal was Johnson’s fifth of the season and his second of the season at even strength. Johnson is second on the Kings with 31 assists, and 20 of them have come on the power play. It was Johnson’s ninth multi-point game of the season and his third three-point game of the season.

— Anze Kopitar had a power-play assist, for his team-high 50th point of the season.

— Michal Handzus had a power-play assist, for his second assists in his last three games.

— Jarret Stoll was stopped by Edmonton goalie Nikolai Khabibulin on a third-period penalty-shot attempt. The Kings are now 1-for-3 this season on penalty shots. Dustin Brown scored against the New York Islanders on Nov. 13 and Jack Johnson did not scored against the Dallas Stars on Jan. 17.

— Dustin Brown and Justin Williams each were credited with a team-high four shots on goal. Brown was credited with a team-high three hits and Matt Greene was credited with a team-high three blocked shots.

— Drew Doughty played a team-high 24 minutes, 24 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 22:19.

— The Kings won 32 of 59 faceoffs (54 percent). Michal Handzus won 15 of 26 draws (71 percent). The Kings have won more than half of their faceoffs in nine consecutive games.
