Postgame notes (Feb. 1)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings went beyond regulation with the Minnesota Wild for the third time in three meetings this season, and lost 1-0 in a shootout Tuesday night in St. Paul.

— The Kings beat the Wild 3-2 in a shootout in Minnesota in October and lost to the Wild 3-2 in overtime in December in L.A. Then of the last 15 games between the Kings and Wild have been decided by one goal. The teams’ fourth and final meeting of this season will be Feb. 24 at Staples Center.

— The Kings had been 5-0 in shootouts this season and the Wild had been 0-4, and had lost eight consecutive shootouts going back to last season. Jonathan Quick had been in goal for all five of the Kings’ previous shootouts this season.

— The Kings were shutout for the fourth time this season and for the second time in their last five games. The Kings have totaled four regulation goals in their last three games and nine regulation goals in their last six games.

— The Kings have allowed only 13 regulation goals in their last eight games.

— The Kings went 0-for-2 on the power play and 2-for-2 on the penalty kill. The Kings are 1-for-28 on the power play in their last 10 games and 8-for-8 on the penalty kill in their last three games.

— It was the Kings’ first scoreless regulation game since March 26, 2009, when they beat Dallas 1-0 in a shootout.

— The Kings outshot the Wild 27-25, including 13-7 in the second period. The Kings have held their opponents to fewer than 28 shots on goal in eight of their last nine games.

— Jonathan Bernier stopped all 25 shots he faced in regulation and overtime and recorded his first shutout of the season and the second shutout of his career. Bernier shut out Nashville on March 30 of last season. Bernier had been involved in only one previous NHL shootout, and stopped all six shots he faced. Bernier has allowed a total of only five goals in his last three starts but has a 1-1-1 record in those three games.

— The Kings fell to 10-13-1 on the road and 11-8-2 in one-goal games.

— Justin Williams was credited with a team-high four shots on goal, and 15 of the Kings’ 18 skaters had at least one shot on goal. Matt Greene was credited with a team-high three hits and Rob Scuderi was credited with a team-high three blocked shots (the Kings were credited with 12 blocked shots, to the Wild’s 25).

— Drew Doughty played a game-high 27 minutes, 14 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all forwards in ice time at 23:03.

— The Kings won 37 of 57 faceoffs (65 percent). They have won more than half of their faceoffs in eight consecutive games. Anze Kopitar won 13 of 17 draws (76 percent).
