Bernier postgame quotes

Jonathan Bernier’s postgame thoughts…

(on the game…)
BERNIER: “I thought we played pretty good. We had our chances, and obviously when it goes to the shootout, it can go either way. We would like the two points to go to us, but I thought our effort was good.”

(on the pressure he faced in the third period…)
BERNIER: “I just tried to make the first save. I thought everyone was in good position tonight. I thought we had good sticks out there. I thought they got some scoring chances because I gave a bad rebound up in the third. I should have kept it in my chest, and it bounced out. After that, they had a few good looks. Other than that, I thought we played very solid defensively.”

(on the shootout…)
BERNIER: “He made a nice move. I don’t know if that’s what he wanted to do at first. He kind of lost the puck. It can go either way. Obviously I’d like to get that one back.”

  1. It’s encouraging to see Bernier play well his late few games. I was worried after watching him struggle in Montreal and San Jose earlier this season. Good to have two dependable goalies.

Dont worry kid, we dont blame you. The reason we lost should be obvious…Westgarth wasnt in the lineup to stand up for his teammates..Bah hah hah hah lol

We got the best possible outcome for the team not scoring, a point.

Our back-up goalie pitched a shutout after a relatively long break.

Lots of positives there… everyone wanted that extra point though – including me.

God forbid something happen to quick, but if something did happen I know Bernier has our back… He did exceptionally great! The shootout was all our kopi, Johnson, and brown… Hate to say it but I hope brown starts getting good again because Lately he sucks… Sucks really bad, anyways bernier did really good now we are going to the best goalie in the league ( I’m my opinion) QUICK

This does not bode well that even after the All Star break we are STILL having trouble lighting the lamp. Not good. Not good at all. The good news, however, especially after the predictions by some of the dire outcome with Bernier in the nets instead of Quick, is Bernier “pitched” a regulation shutout. THAT is the reason we were able to salvage a point. And as to the shootout, he would have needed to be perfect there, too, in order for us to get the second point. It borders on tragic that we couldn’t put a single puck past Backstrom. Not in regulation, not in overtime, and not in the shootout.

    Great Job Bernier!

Sorry TM thought that you were our only offense tonight. The fans are still trying to figure that out too.

Jb, you did well! I would like to see different shooters for the shootout though. And getting better on connecting passes. That’s the only thing I would have changed.

Cant win if you dont score goalies can only do so much and Backstrom in that shootout looked like he knew what every one of the king shooters were going to do

Bernier played an amazing game. the reason we lost is because of TM
Yea JJ almost scored but he should not of even been shooting. I like Brownie alot but not in the SO. I think that Stoll should of been shooting for sure. Goalies are getting harder and harder to deke and score on. The most effective way to score is to snipe. Even in the ASG the first goal to go in in the elimination SO was a snipe. Anyways, sorry for ranting but i had to get it out there

    @OC Hip Check, Agreed!
I want to see Lokti try it! Stolly would have been in my line-up as well and maybe simmer to start.

Good job Bernier! We couldn’t ask for a better job. You held us in there for a chance to win. The games are only going to get tougher from here on, so keep it up.
