All hands on deck in St. Paul

All of the Kings players made it to snowy St. Paul today and are at the arena for practice. That includes Marco Sturm, who is practicing for the first time since going on injured reserve with knee tendinitis. Sturm is eligible to return at any time, so hopefully there will be an update on his status after practice. Anze Kopitar is not expected to skate today, following yesterday’s All-Star Game.

    I have missed watching me some hockey! The All Star was cool and all to watch…but not the “real” thing! I can’t wait for tomorrow! YIPPY! Way to go Kopi! You rocked it in the All Star game. So proud! :)

    TM has been emphasizing a couple things throughout the season: Quick starts and 60 minutes. Let’s see both tomorrow, and not waste this chance to nullify Minnesota’s game in hand. It’s not enough to play well enough to win and still lose. We need to win no matter how we play.

    You’ll need some one to keep the car running and provide security. So put my tickets and transportation costs in your budget. Also add In N Out burgers to the list.

    Wouldn’t it be cheaper to sub-contract that service to Tonya Harding?

    Keep Lokti on Kopi’s wing. Let Sturm come back when he’s ready, say around summer time.

    @Ersberg,

    Exactly and this is where we get to put TM’s critical thinking process on the dyno. Again. So far we have like 5 blown motors.

    I wonder how many people would be dismissing Sturm if we werent on a 3 game winning streak…

    I would keep Lokti for now also, just playing a little Devils Advocate

    pr0cess Reply:

    @VanKingsFan, i like sturm, i think if he is 100% he will do well, i like the kid to so will see how it all plays out

    [Reply]

    jess Reply:

    @VanKingsFan,

    That is a good point. Guess a lot of us have finally come to the point where a constant shake up of the lines is getting tiresome. Maybe letting the guys gel and get used to playing with each other in the same positions will let the system work.

    Some with OCD have to flip the light switch eleven times, others jump over cracks and lines in the sidewalk.

    TM calls in a new line combination before he puts his loafers on.

    Badger57 Reply:

    @Dominick,
    I’ll bet Whiskey would play a heck of a game up there. He grew up, & played hockey about twenty miles from there. He has always played good against the Wild up in MN. Besides I’ll bet he’d like to meet Staubitz in a head to head, after Staubitz hit him from behind twice last year (2nd one put him out of the lineup for most of the 2nd half of the season).
    Anyways GO KINGS!!!!

    Dominick Reply:

    @Badger57, Good catch on Whiskey. That was one of the reasons why I brought him up.

    Has anyone crunched the #’rs on Lokti yet? He’s due a raise if he stays, but I think his cap hit stays the same. I’m just too lazy to figure out what we’ll pay.

    Remember, a lot of these young guys will get pushed back and may even sit in favor of a Modin/Halpern type player that DL will pick up…assuming we are in the playoff hunt before the trade deadline.

    Come playoffs…you will want a player like Sturm in your lineup. My point is we already have in Sturm one of those experience players DL would be happy to get at the deadline. I think when healthy, Sturm can have an impact playing on the 3rd line w/Lewis and Simmer. Clifford has been great, but he doesn’t put up the points that Sturm can. 4th line for him is perfect…especially come playoffs!
