No line/lineup changes are expected for the Kings tonight in their final game before the All-Star break. Scott Parse continues to skate, post-practice, but his status remains a week-to-week situation, meaning he’s not close to playing. Marco Sturm is continuing with off-ice therapy and work, and it’s not yet known whether he will be ready to play during the three-game, post-break road trip. For those who want to look ahead, Jonathan Bernier will start next Tuesday at Minnesota and Jonathan Quick will start Wednesday at Edmonton. More notes and quotes to come…
heres a good article on Tyler Toffoli

makes no sense…
You need the practice time which you can only guarantee getting when you’re home. Who knows what rinks are available for the Kings to practice..if there are any. Not to mention you can keep an eye on the guys who are nursing injuries…there’s so many factors that make the choice an obvious one.
You go home..prepare and then take a flight the day before….
Any GM who would do it differently,wouldn’t be worth his salt.

@PlayoffBound, Have to disagree with you. Ten games in a row on the road is enough, without having to spend 4 days in Pittsburgh (or wherever) killing time between games. Plus, it’s much easier for the team to organized practices and practice times in their own facility. I think this makes it seem like a 3-game road trip and then a 6-game trip and then back for a game in Anaheim. Doesnt seems nearly as arduous.

BAd news for Sturm and Parse is Good news for Loktionov. The more time they are out, the more time Lokti gets to really get comfortable and prove himself. If he keeps up what he’s been doing, somebody will be out of a job.
If we keep Loktionov, we’ll be over on roster players and we will have to either trade or risk waivers on somebody. It’s unlikely right now that any of our guys would clear waivers, so a trade for picks or prospects might be preferable if it comes to that (get some value for our lost man, at least.) Of course, our situation will be known in the league so we will have trouble getting enough leverage to pull a decent trade. Lokti being the key to our left wing for the rest of the year, has some sticky implications for DL.
How good does Lokti have to play in order to force DL to give up somebody else? and if he does it, who goes?

Stat of the day:
The Sharks are 16-5 in the last 21 games vs the Kings at Staples Center. That’s just ridiculous. Whose ice is it anyway??
The Kings will need a mammoth, team effort to get this one tonight, although I do believe the Sharks are prime for another loss.

I got a few minutes before going to the gym, so here’s a daily thoughts. Watched NHL classic this morning and the Kings were on. Yes, it was #99 803erd goal and a classic game. Kept thinking how could we not ever win a cup with this great star. The Kings back then was like the Kings today fighting for the 8th playoff spot against the Sharks. I think it’s funny how everyone loves #99, but really all he ever did for us was give us a statue in front of Staples Center. Back then I felt the Kings surrounded him with good players and more then 1 good team,92-93. I think this version of the Kings is a better bunch because we are coming together from scratch. We are going through some growing pains, but we are on the right track. Not to dis on #99, but this group of Kings are a lot more exciting to watch. Take down the Sharks tonight and put the NHL on notice.

@kinginsaltlake,
Gretzky brought legitimacy to a team that was the equivelent of a modern day Florida Panthers, or Columbus BlueJackets. During his time here, he singlehandedly gave Kingsfans hope that anything was possible. Some of my greatest memories as a fan involve Gretzkys’ achievements as a King. We didn’t win a cup, and that run in 93′ may have destroyed the Kings ability to build for a while, but it was a great time none the less.
Todays team is different in that we have a long term plan. I think these days give us hope in different ways, but can be just as exciting. Absolutely no reason (if your a Kingsfan) not to love Gretzky.

He did do a lot foe bring hockey to the fore front in California. Teams like The Ducks and the Sharks would not of been around if 99 didn’t bring the love of hockey to LA. I stand corrected. Please forgive me for my in just thinking patterns. We King fans owe a lot to those early King clubs. Even when we had the fabulous three we didn’t win the cup. Roy did stop us that year. Let us all hope that this group of Kings can give us a remainder of the season to remember. Go Kings, win one for ole’ #99 on his B-day.
