FINAL: Kings 2, Bruins 0

Jonathan Quick made 33 saves for his fifth shutout of the season, and the 13th of his career, as the Kings won consecutive games for the first time this month. More from the locker room to come…

Now take this effort into the game against the Sharks and go strong into the allstar break. Then it’s a new season and we need to get back to the way we started the season.

Overall excellent effort, sound throughout. The Kings match up well against Boston cause the Bruins arent that fast, they just play a sound, controlled system, and when the Kings are on, they are as sound defensively as anyone. (The Kings problem continues to be fast teams, and I hope the staff has a better game plan to counter that on the upcoming road trip.)
The Sharks are also a good match up for the Kings (for the same reasons) so more of the same Wednesday, boys, and you’ll be rolling into the trip from Hell.

Just got back from the game, what I noticed- the team really clogged up the middle very well, and supported each other, they did make some mistakes but there was always someone there to support without panic, they made quick short passes to each player to get the pucks out of danger, and never tried to do too much on their own (in other words a TEAM game) the power play looked a lot better for the first one, and then for the first half of the second, and then it sort of reverted back to it’s former self for the rest of the game, but the PP does appear to be comming back, the penalty Kill was great.

WOW! What a freaking night, boys! What a night! That’s how you play playoff hockey.

Chara’s big body? Useless. Brownie gets rattled? He still lays the body a dozen times. Tim Thomas looks like a hybrid of Terry Sawchuk and Patrick Roy? Who cares, because Jonathan was a little Quicker.

Everything worked, everything. The game was never in doubt, and the lines are PERFECT as they are. That Clifford-Lewis-Simmonds line is really fun to watch. Call it the Mercedes line, because they’re faster than speeding “CLS”.

At last, a 60 minute game. Wasn’t it great? The refs were basicall OK Missed Chara holding the stick behind the net and a few others, but so what I do believe the refs will give the Kings a little more respect after DL’s fine . The pics comparing Smyths no goal and the Yotes goal were so conclusive that Murphy must have left his glasses off to rule on them

@poe, Deano was right to lay into Murphy and the war room. I don’t feel, however, that he was in the right to say personal things about Murphy. The way it all worked out though, showing how fed up and ticked off the Kings were about getting jacked twice I think really got the Kings going in some sort of way.

best game they have played in weeks. Loktionov was great tonight and like the jump in the new 4th line. they created some good scoring chances.

We’re now 5-0 against Boston in the last 5 games (both home and away). A great team win (and particularly happy that Quick finally managed another complete game effort), but there are a couple of areas still in need improvement and/or adjustment.

    1. Why, oh, why is Kopitar the pp qb? He still does not understand that defenders will not create lanes for him; he needs to move the puck or move his feet. Holding the puck along the boards only neutralizes the man advantage and kills the clock. Even Ryan Smyth has a better grip on that and, voila, a power play goal. Throw Koipitar down into the slot and crease and let him at least give the run impression that he’s 6’5″ instead of the 5’5″ he often plays at.

    2. Dustin Brown seems completely gun shy with the puck on his stick these days. Missing the open net the other night did him and us no favors and he really needs to get a gimme or a hail mary in the worst way. Thankfully, he was there with the body and the effort tonight, and I thought he was a force out there.

We will need another similar complete game on Wednesday: the Sharks come into this game with a 4-game winning streak and 16-5 in games in Los Angeles. The Kings haven’t beaten SJ on home ice since 10/6/09. That is just not acceptable.

I am officially off the TM needs to go boat. That is why I am not the GM. I over-reacted. Now, can we just keep moving forward positive? This team is a ‘top 10″ team when they play like the past two games. Let’s put a streak together like at the beginning of the season. First, let beat the Sharks on Wednesday to make it 3! GKG!

@Carolina Kings Fan, As long as TM stops shoving the systen down guys throats, and makes in-game adjustments then I will lay off. If not…………

Good to hear they played 60 minutes of good hockey. That’s really all the fans have been asking for, so if they can string a few more wins, the season may not be over yet.
