Smyth, Simmonds updates

Ryan Smyth was getting treatment, post-practice, so there was no immediate word on his condition after he got hit by a slap shot. Terry Murray said he thought Smyth might have been hit in the hamstring area, near the back or side of the leg.

The afternoon went far better for Wayne Simmonds, and Murray said it’s possible Simmonds might play tomorrow. Murray said he hadn’t expected Simmonds to join the full-team practice today, but that Simmonds came to him and asked to participate. More notes and quotes from practice to come…

Figures, first season I get season seats with playoff preference and this mess happens. Lesson learned.

@KC23, Ditto. but it aint over yet, im not saying we are going to make a triumphant comeback, but we definitely still have a strong chance to at least get into the playoffs

Too bad, a real blow to team speed given Ryno is such a burner to begin with

    David R Reply:

@Gene Carr, yeah, and dont forget what awesome balance he has, except when the occasional goal post jumps in his way. i loved watching that in slow mo.

@Gene Carr, Maybe you should be focused more on how he puts the puck in the net.

    David R Reply:

@klepto, im sorry, i thought you were being sarcastic in saying he is fast, i think he is slow, but whatever. Yeah he puts the puck in the net, but his game is incomplete, thats what im saying, and we are losing games because him and alot of others arent being complete players. but i truly hope they all prove me wrong

This maybe good news. A way to get the slow lugs out of the line-up and bring up some new, fast heart from the pipeline to see if they can change things up..

    @Kingsation8,

it’ll likely result in Westgarth (slower than Smyth) being in the lineup longer. I’m not sure why Peter Harold doesn’t play. At least he tries 100%

Ok Kings need to wake up Doughty needs to be putting in his place cause last night he was all over the map

    [Reply]

    RabidZiggy Reply:

@KingsFanFTL, Doughty was showing the most fire out of anyone last night. He was giving it his all. His undisciplined penalty was a product of frustration, it’s clear he wants to win.

    wavesinair Reply:

@RabidZiggy, Agreed. The fact that he was “all over the map” meant he was trying to make something happen. Look for more of the same.

You know what I am going to do if the Kings lose any more games? I am going to get excited to go to the stadiuim for all remaining home games. I am going to put on my jersey, make the drive up from OC with my wife, enjoy the time with her and all our pre-game rituals. I am going to glare at any opposing teams’ fans I see and I am still going to heckle the one d-bag that seems to be at every single game wearing a Quacks jersey whether we are playing Ana-slime or not.

I am going to take evasive action when dodging the Welk Resort people. I am going to contemplate bidding $300 on an auction for a signed stick. I am going to get excited like a little kid when the lights go out and the lasers come on and the music is blaring. I am going to cheer for my Kings when they come on to the ice no matter what. I am going to yell just like I always do and I am going to hold on to all hope that I will see something amazing that night. I am going to curse like crazy if we lose and I am going to gloat and celebrate if we win.

I am a Kings fan till I die. Their record does not determine my level of fun and excitement for the game. I cheered for them for many seasons when they were, seemingly, already mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in November, so why should I alter it now? Don’t get me wrong, a Stanley Cup would be awesome, but it really wouldn’t affect my love for this team. It’s in my blood to root for the Kings and I am not going to change my affiliations one bit.

Do these losing streaks give me anguish? Abso-freakin-lutely! But I am still going to be yelling just like I have for the last 30 years! So for those of you down on this team right now, I will not begrudge you your right to rant and rave. But don’t mock those of us that still find the joy and love of this team and this game.

We aren’t done yet! LET’S GO KINGS!!!

Thanks for the applause and adulations. I was just bummed out on all the negative posts on here and people saying they were writing this team off or turning in their season seats. There is still joy and excitement to be had with this team. Some of us still believe.

@KingsFan in OC, Great post, but it must go both ways, like you said if the team plays good and wins everybodies happy.but if they don’t,people should stop attacking other fans because they disagree. This is the life of a Kings fan,at least thats what we can agree on.

@KingsFan in OC, you just made me cry, that was awsome, I’m a fan of 27 years, I started waching the boys at 5 years old. Ive wached when they win, when the lose, when thier is no season at all. When I was a boy my too favorite teams met in the finals, m.c . Lak, I liked the canadiens becase of patrick, he was my hero, but marty mc counterset that, he was the heart gretz was awsome too , I just liked the fight in marty mc, when he took that stupid ass penalty in game 2 for a ilegal stick, that was 1/10th over the curve rule, I said I will never root for another team again. Even though they lost that series, the boys faught on and gave those canadiens a fight to remember. I say let lucky luke take this team and coach our boys, show them how to play with heart, after all luke has and allways be the heart of this modern lak team, he wasnt the best skater, not the best puck hand, but he never gave up. Fight boys fight, go kings go…..
