Looking for four-line balance

As earlier noted, the Kings will go with a fourth line of Alexei Ponikarovsky, Michal Handzus and Trevor Lewis tonight, with Kevin Westgarth as the healthy scratch. Westgarth was also scratched in the first Kings-Oilers game of this season, on Dec. 23 — a 3-2 Kings shootout win — when Terry Murray went with a fourth line of Lewis, Ponikarovsky and Marco Sturm. Here’s what Murray said, after today’s morning skate, about the lineup change…

MURRAY: “I really feel, right now, that we need to get the four lines going, the energy, the temp. I know, I’m aware, that Edmonton has some of those gritty guys there, but the importance of the fourth line, to play pretty regular shifts, is more important. That’s the overriding factor. And I want to get Ponikarovsky back in. It seems like he should be an important player for us. He has a good resume, coming in. He’s a big body who can score some goals. We just have to get his game back on track.”
