Jonathan Bernier will get another chance to get his season back on track when he starts in goal against Edmonton tomorrow night. Bernier has a 4-7-0 record, a 3.26 goals-against average and an .888 save percentage this season, and he will be making his first career start against the Oilers. Bernier did not fare well in either of his previous two starts. He allowed six goals in 33 minutes on Dec. 30 against Philadelphia, then allowed five goals in a loss to Nashville on Jan. 6. Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 21 shots last night against St. Louis, but today, Terry Murray said that starting Bernier against the Oilers was his play all along…
MURRAY: “Very honestly, candidly, it was. I was going to do this. It had nothing to do with last night’s game. We’re getting ready to go on the road, with back-to-back games again, the first two. So we have to have everybody going. Bernier has had some attention to his game, with Billy (Ranford) here recently. He’s been working really hard in practice. He’s hungry and we’re looking for a big performance from him.”
