Rob Scuderi’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
SCUDERI: “I thought we did a pretty good job in the first period, and in the last 15 minutes, but it’s not enough. We found a way to do just enough to lose by one goal. That’s been the case since Christmas, and it’s got to turn around for us.”
(on whether he feels the season slipping away…)
SCUDERI: “I was in Pittsburgh, and both years that we went to the Finals, we were a .500 team through mid-January. There’s no panic in here, but there has to be more desperation. I’m not worried about the standings right now, but we are certainly digging ourselves into a huge hole. This homestand was a chance for us to move up in the standings, not down.”
Ya think?

When Pitts went to the finals they had forwards that could actually accept a pass through the neutral zone and skate it in. See our forwards get a pass, then it either deflects off their blade or they miss it completely. Then the other team then picks it off or they reset in their zone and take it to them.
I thought this was the NHL. Am I missing something here?

Well Scuds, sorry to say, but I think you guys might need to locate that panic button shortly if this does not get corrected…VERY SOON!

@pr0cess, Big time.
Scuds,
I’m not a big fan of trading away our future to win now, but you did have Sidney Crosby, and Evgeni Malkin in both those years. Hope you can help this team fix whatevers wrong, because it’s frustrating to watch.

I am not a Kessel fan, but you really notice how one single skill guy can back off the defense and get them scrammbling. Enough with the Clifford experiment on the top line. Get Westy out of there if he is not going to throw. Get Richie back in there. Time to give Moller a shot at LW1,no one else is getting it done.
4th line Cliffy-Richie-Lewis

@Hat trick, who Moller? If that’s who you mean, I certainly agree. He should have been a part of this team from game 1. The kid can play the game. Great hockey sense, great skills, and not afraid to muck it up. He should be up right now!

@Goring 19, No actually Kessel. I like Moller also but he gets tossed about a lot because of his size. But he’s definitely not afraid to shoot the puck that’s for sure.

@Goring 19, Yes, he absolutely should. I don’t know why he’s (seemingly) in the same doghouse as Ponikarovski, Richardson, Sturm, J-dub (around playoff time) and Frolov last year. Maybe he’s one of Murrays scapegoat players? When the whole team fails, especially any of the golden few, he goes to a couple guys to pick on. Frolov was the last glaring example. Richardson sitting last 2 is another.
Scuds is saying all the right things. He’s seeing the game just as it is. Brown, you don’t know what’s wrong? Ask Rob. He understands. We need some veteran leadership to lead the way here. Please speak up guys. Smyth, you were a mad man tonight. Be a mad man in the locker room.
