Jack Johnson’s new contract with the Kings will be a seven-year deal, with a salary-cap hit of approximately $4.3 million. Johnson will make $3.5 million in each of the first three years, starting next season, and then $5 million per year in each of the final four seasons.

@Mike L, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I love Wayne Simmonds. When the Kings trade Coffey, I shed a tear. I might do it again if they deal Simmonds. I guess that with Clifford’s ascension, Simmonds becomes a little less valuable as Clifford is younger, bigger, stronger and will play on an entry level deal for two more years.

@Will Hutchison, From “what I hear” Coffey was gotten rid of because he was messing with the owner’s wife. Again, it’s only what I hear.

He’s still young… Think Johnson’s gonna better in a couple years? Of course. Near the end of this contract, that’ll be a bargain!

At the game. Had a front row view of the first goal. Beautiful pass by Kopi, knew it was a goal when I saw the pass.

Don’t think there is any doubt this was a good move by DL..Ill breathe easier when Drew extends as well

Absolutely wonderful contract…for both sides. I’ll admit that I thought he would walk at the first opportunity. This is great news.
Go Kings!

Rich,

Great job, Dean. Now go lock up the rest.

Great deal, what a steal. Once he matures it will be awesome. Kinda reminds me of when we had Blake, Zhitnik and Sydor years ago. Very promising. Thanks DL!

@rexmundi, Rich doesn’t report unless things are confirmed by people he trusts, or by the organization. I’m sure he knew about the speculated details far before you listened to your radio.

Very happy to have Johnson a King for a long time to come.

Despite his erratic play this season, he has potential and at that price, a steal.

@newf, if u look at the projected LA team in 5 years all of the roles r filled beautifully…except firstline LW….again….

Not a bad deal. Considering the seemingly acrimonious relationship they had a couple of years ago, this is somewhat surprising. But, I’m for it. I just hope that JJ continues to develop and improve all aspects of his game.

Great deal for both sides, glad we won’t have JJ contract discussions for a number of years!!!
