As previously noted, Matt Greene apparently has been suffering from flu symptoms, and it’s not known whether he will be able to play tonight. Willie Mitchell and Alexei Ponikarovsky both participated in today’s morning skate. It’s been clear, in the last couple days, that Ponikarovsky is close to a return, but Terry Murray indicated today, for the first time, that Mitchell’s return might be on the horizon as well. Here was Murray’s update on all three players…
(on Greene…)
MURRAY: “I’m hoping we see him tonight. He came in just not feeling great, with a little bit of the flu bug, I guess. A couple guys have gone through it in the last couple days, and they bounced back and were able to get through practice yesterday at a pretty good level of play, so I’m hoping Greener can find a way to get back here tonight.”
(on Mitchell and Ponikarovsky…)
MURRAY: “They’re skating well and feeling more comfortable every day that they’re on the ice. Real close. Maybe both fall into the day-to-day category. It’s encouraging to see what’s going on with their hard work.”
