Scouting the Sharks

To catch up on today’s Kings news and notes, please check out my LAKings.com notebook by clicking here. For the latest on the Sharks, check out the Mercury News’ game preview and the fine blog maintained by beat writer David Pollak. The Sharks will start Antti Niemi in goal and are expected to be without forward Torrey Mitchell (lower-body injury) tonight and the (unconfirmed) thought is that they will dress seven defensemen. The Sharks enter with a three-game winning streak and the NHL’s sixth-best power play, which will put the Kings’ penalty killers to the test. Here’s how the Sharks and Kings are expected to line up tonight, with the Kings’ fourth line still a mystery…

SHARKS LINEUP
Patrick Marleau-Joe Thornton-Dany Heatley
Ryane Clowe-Logan Couture-Benn Ferriero
Jamie McGinn-Joe Pavelski-Devin Setoguchi
(Marleau/Clowe)-Scott Nichol-Jamal Mayers

Douglas Murray-Dan Boyle
Marc-Edouard Vlasic-Niclas Wallin
Kent Huskins-Jason Demers
Justin Braun

Sharks going with 11 forwards? Guess they’re playing defense tonight!

It looks like San Jose is dressing 7 D-men. TM doesn’t like to do that because it messes up the flow of things…or something. It’s a pretty strong lineup when Pavelski is on the third line. Still, I don’t think they’re as good as they were a couple of years ago. Something doesn’t feel right with this team.

If Detroit is healthy the Sharks won’t get by them in the playoffs and hopefully not past the Kings.

I wonder if TM will scratch Poni?

Rich you have to send these guys the link to your blog…just like the Avs blog it is still linking to the Daily News blog that hasn’t been touched in two years!

Unless of course you have already, and being typical NoCals they don’t know what to do. All they know is their stupid chant, which we’ll hear seventeen times tonight…

@5-Hole, It’s funny when they play the Jaws theme. Too bad we don’t have something identifiable like that. Something stupid like swords clashing (add sarcasm here).
