End of first: 0-0

The Kings outshot the Sharks 16-6 in the first period — at one point it was 15-1 — and had scoring chances by the handful but couldn’t put a puck past Antti Niemi. The Sharks came on stronger at the end of the period and will be on the power play for the first 1:13 of the second period.

    One of the most impressive and dominating periods by the boys in quite a while, but at the same time one of the most frustrating too as we had nothing to show for it.

    @EncinoMan,
    As long as we continue to play this way, I’ll except losing if I know they domininated the play like this.

    Don’t get frustrated Kings. This is the goalie that won the cup last year after all. 40 more minutes of this kind of play, please! :)

    Now I know how the Red Wings felt a couple weeks ago when Quick shut them down on over 50 shots. Niemi is keeping the Sharks in this game.

    Don’t let San Jose slow the game down to a grind game. Keep up the tempo, and play your game Kings.

    Great period but having watched soooooo much hockey in my lifetime I am crossing my fingers this isn’t kne of those games we dominate then give up the first goal on some random deflection or bounce off the boards….

    Great energy. I’m having kettle one and rockstar tonight (fitting)

    @MR King, good period for the kings, but now you have to know that they will come back in the second and not make the same mistakes they did in the first, so we have to be ready for a renewed sharks team for the rest of the game. never think you’ve got this team cornered–they have many weapons at their disposal. and their rookie isn’t bad at faceoff’s either

    Way to stand up for yourself Richie. Nichol had you dead to rights there. I also appreciate that Nichol was willing to drop the gloves himself.
