This is the first of the four meetings between the Kings and Edmonton Oilers this season, and the Oilers are a bit of a hard group to figure out. They’re one of the youngest teams in the NHL, and they enter tonight’s game with the fewest points in the Western Conference, but they also have some strong scoring potential up front, with youngsters such as Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall. The Oilers have scored one goal in three of their last four games, but in the other game they scored six against Columbus. So it’s hard to predict what one will see from the Oilers on any given night, and Terry Murray suggested today…
MURRAY: “A lot of unknowns. A lot of players that I don’t know. I know there are top-end draft picks who are very skilled and can do a lot of damage one-on-one. You kind of have to be ready for the unexpected, because of their playmaking ability and their creativity. We’re going to have to come back with the same focus that we showed in the last couple games, and give it a big push on the checking part of it. We’ll get our opportunities. We’ll get some chances, and hopefully the balance of the scoring is continuing to get spread out throughout the lineup, like it has been. That would be a good way to finish it off, before the break.”
