This is the first of the four meetings between the Kings and Edmonton Oilers this season, and the Oilers are a bit of a hard group to figure out. They’re one of the youngest teams in the NHL, and they enter tonight’s game with the fewest points in the Western Conference, but they also have some strong scoring potential up front, with youngsters such as Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall. The Oilers have scored one goal in three of their last four games, but in the other game they scored six against Columbus. So it’s hard to predict what one will see from the Oilers on any given night, and Terry Murray suggested today…
MURRAY: “A lot of unknowns. A lot of players that I don’t know. I know there are top-end draft picks who are very skilled and can do a lot of damage one-on-one. You kind of have to be ready for the unexpected, because of their playmaking ability and their creativity. We’re going to have to come back with the same focus that we showed in the last couple games, and give it a big push on the checking part of it. We’ll get our opportunities. We’ll get some chances, and hopefully the balance of the scoring is continuing to get spread out throughout the lineup, like it has been. That would be a good way to finish it off, before the break.”
shot mentality & crash the net…not too hard to figure out!

@Guss, When it comes to Kings hockey nothing is certain, Lets work hard for 60min and make it happen

Their really strong on their wings. Lately they’ve been lighting it up with their wingers. Sort out the defensive responsibilities, and push to the corners. Don’t let their wingers cycle to the middle. Their week defensively in just about every area.

@EncinoMan, ireally believe the Kings have something to prove against the young lads from Denver.. We are only a couple years older and that said we need to put them in thier place tonight!!

Play the same game as we did in Colorado. Avs have a far better offense and we took care of them without much of a problem. This should not be a problem (and that’s what scares me).

@KC23, does it seem to me that good team that we should say they good team a lost was a ok to them but we win them and when it comes to games like this we should win no matter what but ends up losing to them.
Thats the Kings i know that why am scared of this team

Just don’t take any game for granted. Sure, Edmonton is low on points. That means they are going to fight even harder tonight. They are in a losing streak, so they are going to fight hard. The Kings are coming off a big win, and a good road trip. Complacency and over-confidence is their enemy tonight. Another two points are up for grabs tonight, and the Kings need to play all-out, no matter who the opponent is.

@Kostamojen, i say we need to play like its our last on every game we play dont take any team that easy we use to be the under dogs we should know how that works out when a team think its a easy win so they play soft and end up losing

Interesting stat between these two teams:
The road team is 10-1 in the last 11 games. The only home win was by EDM almost 3 years ago.
I’d say we’re overdue for a home win against this team. Hopefully, the Kings come out with the same hunger we saw in DET, NAS and COL and don’t fall to the ‘first game after a long road trip’ syndrome.
Go Kings!

@Capt Jam, The numbers don’t lie then because it feels like forever since we’ve beaten them at Staples.
