Kings 2, Oilers 2

The teams traded goals within the first five minutes of the third period to make it a 2-2 game.

First, directly off a faceoff win, Theo Peckham fired a shot from the blue line, through significant traffic, and Jean-Francois Jacques was credited with the goal on a deflection in front.

Then, 20 seconds later, the Kings tied the game. Wayne Simmonds carried the puck to the net with speed, then got it back in the corner and fed a short pass to Jack Johnson. Johnson whipped a wrist shot from the middle of the left circle and scored at the 4:45 mark.

    Great play by Simmer and nice shot by Johnson. Speed created that one.

    @Bones,

    Smitty actually had a “little” speed in that rush across the blue line, but I think he was coasting…

    Kid is good. Making Martinez look like a rookie. Oh wait, he is. Martinez is probably hanging on for dear life.

    @vplaza, Yup. Hall keeps beating him on that side. I hope he focuses on the man and not the puck.

    LOL, Martinez was probably glad that wasn’t Taylor on that check he threw on the Oilers drive in.

    Yeah, but you gotta wonder, his shifts are really short, so how does that affect Kopi and Brown, whose shifts are normally much longer than what Sturm can do.
