Kings 1, Oilers 1

The Kings tied the game with a power-play goal at the 8:31 mark. Justin Williams carried the puck into the Edmonton zone with speed, from the right side, and protected it on  his backhand. Williams got around Ladislav Smid and scored from close range. Michal Handzus and Jack Johnson picked up assists as the Kings tied the game 1-1.

The odd thing is, the goal light above the Edmonton net came on a few seconds before the goal, for no apparent reason.

    Dangerous blind tip pass from Zus. That was oh-so-close to being picked off, but JW was on a mission.

    @vplaza, That is a set play.

    @Garrett,

    Fairly sure it was, but it’s a risk-reward play, though. It connects, it’s great. It gets picked off, not so great.

    If Zeua meant that as a pass for Willie, he’s got unbelievable peripheral vision and timing.

    Smittty!!!! Don;t even look for a pass when entering the zone! Just go directly to the crease and stand there.

    @crashin’ da net,

    Yeah, they really look like they’re a step behind. Other than than goal, the Oilers are the ones dictating the play. The Kings have had a couple of good cycles, but overall, the Oilers are the better team so far.

    See I said before the game started to sort it out defensively and don’t let them cycle it to the middle. Doesn’t anyone ever listen.

    The first line hasn’t asserted itself like it did in the last game. Kopi looks okay, not as beastly as he was in Colorado. DB also looks off, his hits are coming way after the fact and his passes and receptions of passes haven’t been crisp. Richardson seems to be doing just okay, but the first line can’t get on track.

    Can we put RED or Colorado in front of the Oilers name ?,that way the Kings will start playing better.

    It seems as though they don’t have their heads in the game. I suppose it’s a product of being a young team. You lose focus of the here and now, and get caught looking ahead. Go into the locker room, ad get your heads on straight for the third!
