Rob Scuderi’s postgame thoughts…
(on if he remembers his last goal…)
SCUDERI: “It was a playoff game. Regular season was in Sweden. I’ve got a high (shooting) percentage in Sweden, but not so much in the United States. But I’ll take them any way they come.”
(on bookending the trip with 5-0 shutouts at Detroit and Colorado…)
SCUDERI: “It was nice to get the wins, but I thought that in the Detroit game, we relied obviously too much on Jonathan (Quick) there. He played awesome, but I think tonight was more of a team game. Top to bottom, every single line, every single D pairing had a solid game. Probably our best team game of the season.”
(on containing the high-power Colorado offense…)
SCUDERI: “I think the key for us was just playing in their zone. Watching the last few games on tape, they’re a very up-and-down team. I thought they got, I wouldn’t say frustrated, but I don’t think they were used to playing in their zone so much. That’s a credit to our forwards for cycling down low for so long.”
Recognition of when they get the bounces or the good goaltending is key. Games like this are far more impressive, because there wasn’t any savior. It was a team effort, and everyone deserved the win. When two or three efforts provide a win, it can lead to a slide like we saw earlier in the season. It’s refreshing to see no gaps in their game. Other than a few long passes they didn’t really need to make with a two or three goal lead, it was just about perfect.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?,
Absolutely, you nailed it. On a related note, glad I don’t have to duke it out with “Dumbardi sucks!! Fire TM” crew for a night.

@mrbrett7, Yeah, I think the Avs, their coaches, and their media all got that message too. The power discrepancy was kinda hard to miss last night.

Scuds is a cerebral guy. I like his take on just about everything. He’s very even keel and plays great D. He could be this years “Unsung Hero”. I would love to sit down and have a beer with the guy.

@Bonvivant1,
He doesn’t have the most fiery personality, but Scuderi is about as honest a player and interview as they come. Seems you can ALWAYS count on him to either make the right play or say the right things.

boy it’s nice to see the forwards playing strong positional defense–reminds me of last year.

Didn’t he call Foxie ‘Patrick’ at the end of the interview? Or I heard it wrong? Whatever he did, please continue it for the rest of the season.
