Postgame notes (Dec. 19)

Some notes from last night’s game…

— The Kings fell back to even on their road trip with a 3-2 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday night. The Kings are now 2-2 on the trip, with Tuesday’s game at Colorado remaining.

— The Kings had scored 15 goals in their previous two games, but put only two pucks past Chicago goalie Corey Crawford. The Kings outshot the Blackhawks 28-24, including 11-4 in the third period.

— The Kings went 0-for-1 on the power play and 3-for-3 on the penalty kill. The Kings had recorded at least one power-play goal in five consecutive games.

— Jonathan Quick allowed three goals on 24 shots. Quick also recorded his first point of the season with an assist on Wayne Simmonds’ third-period goal. The assist was the third of Quick’s NHL career.

— The Kings fell to 7-10-0 on the road, 4-9-1 when allowing the first goal, 1-5-1 when trailing after the first period and 3-8-1 when trailing after the second period.

— Wayne Simmonds had a third-period goal and also assisted on Kyle Clifford’s goal. In 15 games from Oct. 30 to Dec. 4, Simmonds had only one point, but he has three goals in his last four games and six points in his last six games. It was the third multi-point game of the season for Simmonds.

— Kyle Clifford tied the game briefly with a second-period goal. Clifford did not record a point in his first 19 NHL games but has two goals and three assists in his last eight games.

— Michal Handzus had one assist. After going nine consecutive games without a point, Handzus now has assists in three consecutive games.

— Anze Kopitar had one assist, his 18th of the season, and has recorded at least one point in seven of his last eight games. He has six goals and five assists in those eight games.

— Kyle Clifford and Ryan Smyth were each credited with four shots on goal. Alec Martinez was credited with five hits and Jack Johnson was credited with four blocked shots.

— Jack Johnson played a game-high 28 minutes, 2 seconds. Anze Kopitar led all Kings forwards in ice time at 21:49.

— The Kings won 19 of 48 faceoffs (40 percent). Anze Kopitar won 6 of 21 draws (29 percent) while Jarret Stoll won 5 of 6 draws (83 percent).
