Sturm talks about trade to Kings

I will be able to meet and speak with Marco Sturm tomorrow, but for now, here’s a quick interview he did with LAKings.com before he jumped on a plane to get to St. Louis. It’s still not known exactly when Sturm will be ready to play, although in the video interview below, Sturm said he hopes to start playing next week.

Terry Murray said he’s writing down different ideas and different line combinations, with Sturm in mind, but that will all come together in the coming days. For now, here’s what Sturm said about joining the Kings (followed by a link to the audio, so you can hear Sturm for yourself), plus a video interview Sturm did with Heidi Androl…

STURM: “It feels great. It was a long two weeks for me, too, Everything was up in the air and it was back and forth a little bit, especially the last two days here. A lot of testing had to get done, but I’m really, really excited to be a L.A. King now, and I’m just going to do my best to help the team and maybe take it to the next level.”

Question: It’s been a long time since your last NHL game. Do you have a target, in terms of returning to an NHL game?

STURM: “I know it’s going to be hard, but I’m just going to try to find my game back as soon as possible. That comes with playing games and a lot of practice, but I feel really confident about it. I think it’s a very fun team to watch, and I think it’s a good fit for me, too, so I’m really excited about it and hopefully we all can click pretty soon.”

Question: What is the feeling going to be like when you get to St. Louis? Have you been traded in the middle of the season before?

STURM: “Midseason, but I had two guys with me, so it was a little easier, I would say. But yeah, I got traded before. Of course, it’s going to be a little weird, and I’m a little nervous about it too, but I’ve only heard good things about the guys. it’s a good group of guys, and I think things should get real easy.”
