Murray postgame quotes

Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the injuries…)
MURRAY: “Well, I just talked to (Matt Greene) right after we came off the ice there in the third period, and he says he’s fine. He said, `I’m fine.’ He said, `The doctor just wouldn’t let me go.’ So, he said, `I’m good, I feel good.’ So I guess obviously there was something there, that the doctor felt he couldn’t play, but he assures me that he’s fine. Scuderi got cut. That was about three minutes in, he just got the stick to the face. That made it tough. You’re down to four defensemen. You lose Greene in the first period and you’re down to four defensemen with 17 minutes, 18 minutes to play. So it makes it very demanding, especially with a young group of guys like that.”

(on Quick’s play…)
MURRAY: “Quick was excellent, obviously. It was the second period, when they had the two back-to-back power plays, and they put a lot of pucks to the net. We were having a difficult time winning faceoffs, and they just threw everything there. He was big. He was the reason we won this one.”

(on the players fighting for Quick’s shutout…)
MURRAY: “That’s good to hear. That’s a real good team attitude, mentality to have. You want to do the stuff for your goaltender, who has pulled you through a tough time in the early part of the game here tonight. That’s a powerful team. They’re world-class players, and they made a lot of plays with a lot of speed, coming at you, and Quick was outstanding. I was glad to hear that the battle was there in the third period, for the goaltender.”

(on Quick bouncing back from Saturday…)
MURRAY: “He’s a very competitive guy. He had a tough night the other night, against Minnesota, and you can see how he responds. He really challenges himself. Mentally, emotionally, he brings that talent that he has out when he’s focused the way he was tonight.”

(on Doughty…)
MURRAY: “Opponents do play him harder, closer. They check him. They’re taking his time and space away. When he does move the puck, they’re skating in front of him, just making him stop and start, making life a little more difficult. But that’s a process that you go through as a young player who is going to be a real good player. You just have to figure that out and find another way to do it. His start (to the season) was not the way I would like to have seen it, but as you see here tonight, and in the past couple games, it’s starting to turn around.”
