Chiarelli talks Sturm trade

Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli spoke to reporters there about today’s trade, which sent forward Marco Sturm to the Kings. Among other things, Chiarelli said that he doesn’t expect to get anything from the Kings — under the “future considerations” — except much-needed immediate salary-cap space.

“As far as we got in return, it’s classified as future considerations,” Chiarelli said, “but really, it’s nothing. Part of that speaks to trading him now versus trading him later on in the year, which we could have done also. But in fairness to Marco, it allowed him to begin his journey, so to speak, in a place that’s a good landing spot for him.”

Of the Kings, Chiarelli said, “They got him [Sturm] for cheap, and they wanted to do it now. There’s a lot of considerations.”
