As previously posted, the Kings will make one lineup change, with Davis Drewiske rejoining the lineup as the fourth-line left winger, alongside center Brad Richardson and right winger John Zeiler. Kevin Westgarth will come out of the lineup, and the other lines and defensive pairs will be the same as they were for the start of the Florida game.
After today’s morning skate, Terry Murray pointed out that Drewiske played left wing in a couple games last season. In my notes, I could only find one game — Dec. 15 at Edmonton — but it did happen. Realistically, Drewiske will probably only get a handful of shifts. After tonight, the Kings don’t play again until Thursday, so depending on the game situation, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Murray double-shift some wingers with Richardson and Zeiler. Here’s what Murray said today about the lineup change…
MURRAY: “When we play Detroit, in my history of playing against them, there’s not (the need for) a heavyweight. If I remember correctly, there were a couple times when I used (Drewiske) on the left side last year, and he played good. The other part of it is, Harrold had a real good game the other night. I liked the way he scored, and he played well. He and Jack seemed to hit it off, any time they were paired together, and they had a good game. I don’t want to change that up. It gives us the flexibility now, with a seventh defenseman there, if needed.”
