    The Blackhawks top 2 lines are very good. Where the Hawks have had trouble is their 3rd and 4th lines are not as good as last season because they had to get rid of so many key role players Hence, they are basically a 500 team currently.

    If John Scott is in the lineup, look out. Westy will have his hands full as Scott is one of the top toughguys in the league.

    Look out for JS; he can beat anyone on the Kings with savage hatred.

    @Doc. Mark 1968,

    I agree that Scott is a very dangerous man. For those that don’t like the idea of having Westy on this team, tonight we may see how really difficult his job is.

    The worst thing about tonight… If our Kings win and IF Phoenix loses, we get the lead back in the Pacific Division. The problem here is that Phoenix is playing the quacks! I can’t root for the quacks!

    AZ King Reply:

    @mcsorleyfan,

    Don’t root for the quacks to win, just root for the yotes to lose.

    Belexes Reply:

    @mcsorleyfan,

    Nobody should be expected to root for the Ducks. If anything, let’s just hope that their game doesn’t turn into one of these stupid 3 point OT games. I’m really getting to hate OT in this league.

    @mcsorleyfan, Why do you care about who leads the division right now? As long as the Kings make the playoffs thats all that counts Marty.

    @puck73,

    Getting into the playoffs is what is paramount, but It would be nice to have guaranteed home ice for a round, two, or all the way through!

    @Kwaz, Overrated. Thats really helped San Jose and Washington hasnt it? Some of you need to start worrying about things that matter like…Health, and Quick is rested so he finishes strong.

    Monarchs dominated tonight. Was the first game I watched this year. Standouts:
    1. Loki
    2. Moller
    3. Muzzin/Voynov

    Great team effort, heavy on the boards and relentless on the forecheck. Loki and Moller have some serious chemistry. Schenn looks solid, but Loki and Moller look better. Kozun is fast and slick.

    line 1 Cliche-Loki-Moller
    line 2 Clune-Schenn-Kozun
    line 3 Holloway-Azi-Meckler
    line 4 Nolan-Elkins-Kaunisto

    pair 1 Muzzin- Voynov
    pair 2 Campbell-Mullen
    pair 3 Kolomitis-Teubert

    Teubert looked disiplined and very strong on the puck. Tape to tape outlets etc. Muzzin and Voynov look solid, desisive and have descent shots. Moller 2 goals, Loki 3 assists. Schenn 1 goal on redirection.

    Hickey didnt play, getting rest. 3 games in a row. tonight was second game.

    @src, you keep forgeting that its the AHL, you speak of this league like its over the moon…..remember why its called the minors

    puck73 Reply:

    @Harty, I dont think anyone is saying its the NHL, but lets face it, some of those will in fact be playing in the NHL, and some with the Kings so a lot us like these updates from people who get to see them up close. Me, I dont have the time to watch Monarchs games so these updates are vital to me.

    Reality check dude……..just an update with personal observations. Having a bad weekend?

    [Reply]

    holly Reply:

    @Harty, Just because it’s the minors they can’t play a solid hard hitting game? Or they can’t dominate when the score is 6-1 and they absolutely did dominate play? Or is it that a player can’t play disciplined hockey, have a great shot, or have good chemistry with someone else?

    No one ever says this is how it’ll shake out in the NHL, but everything that SRC reported was true.

    Well just got to my seats and you can sure tell who won the Cup last year. Lots of Hawk jerseys in the arena! Those who are complaining about the new #1 line switch, c’mon can you just give it a chance? Like anything else has clicked this year, right? Big game tonite and Monday. End the month with a couple of conference wins and all of a sudden things are looking a little sweeter. Besides what are some of you gonna complain about then? :)

    Monarchs won tonight against Portland 6-1.

    Scoring as follows: Period 1: Elkins (Mullen, Kaunisto), Moller (Loktionov, Cliche), Schenn (Campbell, Loktionov), Azevedo (Kozun, Holloway). Period 2: Portland Crawford (Mancari, Ellis), Moller (Loktionov, Cliche). Period 3: Kaunisto (Muzzin).

    Monarchs had 42 SOG (goaltending for Portland was split between Leggio (12 saves on 16 shots) and Enroth (24 saves on 26 shots, Kaunisto’s goal was an absolute fluke). Jones stopped 34 of 35 from Portland.

    The first period was probably the best period of hockey that has been played all year. Schenn centered Kozun and Clune most of the game. Azevedo, Holloway, and Nolan was the starting line. We saw Cliche, Loktionov and Moller for the majority of the game. Hickey did not play and Kolomatis played in his spot. I don’t know the status of Hickey’s scratch. Saw him briefly in the player’s suite and didn’t notice any indication of his previous injuries (shoulder, knee, foot) resurfacing.

    When the Monarchs have a blowout, they tend to play the song “Bad Day” and scan the bench/on ice players. Enroth took none too kindly to it, but Leggio who let in the majority of the goals reacted with a bit of a self deprecating chuckle.

    During the post game they interviewed Moller and Loktionov together. I couldn’t help but feel bad for Loktionov as Chris Ryan who does the interviews tends to ask kind of rambling vague questions that would be hard for someone not completely comfortable with the language to answer. He did what he could, though, even hopping in to correct Moller on the statement that they never played together in training camp (they had in Loktionov’s first camp when they played in Phoenix on a line with Purcell). They mentioned that growing up playing on European rinks forced them to really train on making smart passes and that adapting to North American rinks made them smarter about reading space. Moller also stated that from his knowledge Loktionov was down to work on his defensive game where as he was down to work on his forechecking.

    @Kingsfanone, Not a problem in the slightest. My family love the Monarchs and the Kings, but they’d go a little crazy if we discussed it as frequently as on here.

    Plus, I don’t know how many more times we can explain the waiver process to my mother.
