Schenn nets two in win

Brayden Schenn scored his first two professional goals last night, for Manchester. For the rest of the Monarchs update, I’ll turn it over to our faithful correspondent Holly, who posted a great report on last night’s game…

Monarchs won 7-2 over Albany (formerly one of our top rivals, Lowell) at home tonight. All in all it was a really good game.

Schenn had two goals and an assist and is looking much more comfortable on the ice. Also, I know a lot of people have been predicting that he’d be playing wing down here and he is not. Tonight he centered Moller and Clune. Yes, Rich Clune played with Oscar Moller and Brayden Schenn. He’s actually played pretty damn well. Schenn still appears to be a little slow, though. It really is too bad he can’t stick around all season because I think that’d be the best option for where he seems to be right now.

Teubert had his first goal (which his reaction to was priceless) and has been getting a lot of praise from both Morris and his teammates as being an excellent stay at home guy. Both he and Muzzin have gotten a lot of praise for how strong they are and how comfortable they make the other guys as far as defensive play.

Schenn (2-1), Meckler (1-1), Elkins (1-2), Moller(0-3), Muzzin (0-2), and Loktionov (0-2) all had multi point nights. Mullen (1-0), Cliche (1-0), Teubert (1-0), Voynov (0-1), and Holloway (0-1) all had points too. Zatkoff stopped 34 of 36 shots by the Devils.

This win combined with a Portland loss (who the Monarchs will face tomorrow night) puts Manchester into 1st in the division.
