The Kings got only Anze Kopitar’s 5-on-3 goal and now, having lost six of their last seven games, are in ninth place in the Western Conference, ahead of 10th-place San Jose only because of goal differential. More from the locker room to come…

Absolutely no 5on5 offensive firepower whatsoever yet sadly it generates more than our pathetic PP. Our defense has also flown to S. America with the starlings for the winter.

We really look very weak all the way around. Last year has gotten to Doughty’s head. Feed the piano player and he gets out of tune.

The only thing we can generate lately are fights which are chances are 50/50. 5on3 just started. bet we don;t score….

DL, spend the money.

quick played great again and martinez was good too.
we have to change up the power play and run it down low,all the teams we are playing know what we are going to do…where are the coaches dont they watch tape on this.
we have good talented players but alot of them are young and need guidence……….lets face it the effort was there but the are running around doing the wrong things and its in the back of our net…………we need to get down low with the puck………….fire murray before its too late.
we are wasting a good start.

@kingfisher, somewhat agree, but all the shortcommings are issues with coaching. Terry Murray is an issue. another issue is the 6 million dollar Kopitar, who has not done nothing (besides a 5 on 3 goal). always disappears in the big games and rarely breaks thru for any type of spectacular play. Something needs to happen. I never have had the confidence in Murray and Kopitar. JJ is another story. IMO he will be a star defenseman and has played as such, but just not lately. He will come around. Again, Stoll, Williams and some others Rock..Kopi & Murray suck and oh yeah….Go Kings

Well said. 6 different LW this season. Maybe the problem with that over rated 1st line center that likes to play on the perimeter. Kopitar needs to play like a 6.5 million a year player. I will say it again. Trade Kopitar and Jack cant get a shot on net to save my ass Johnson. For Savard, Lucic and Chara……

the kings have got to dig deep.

we’re missing ponikarovsky and mitchell. The season opening winning streak is done with.

our forwards are at best streaky.

kopi has nobody that can finish or set him up.

our forwards aren’t on the elite finisher level

our d-men looked lost out there during the last 10 games.

many holes in our game but the guys have got to get it together.

its frustrating but lets hope we get those ducks.

Early in the season when we were winning I felt we were winning with hard work, not talent. I think I was correct because when we play a team that plays as hard or harder we are getting beaten bad. I agree with an earlier post, time for JJ to move on. He does some great things but his mistakes are ending up in our net too often.

The power play is SOOOOOOOO slow and unimaginative, I cant believe they actually pay a coach to come up with that. Other teams move it around and take quick shots, the Kings NEVER shoot off the pass so the opponents have time to react and reset. it’s embarrassing.

And JJ had a hat trick – his third awful game in a row.

I didnt mind the new first line but we really TRULY need a decent LW and we’re gonna have to give up something to get one.

Where are all of the DL supporters now…accountability by management…this team has holes and our so called depth in the minors is not going to fill the gaps. Time to trade potential and promise for proven talent. Our 4th line is the saddest line in the league, time to infuse some veterans on that line. Sign/trade…fourth liners are a dime a dozen…find a couple. None of our so called youngsters were good enough to make the team…maybe they aren’t as good as we think they are.

Seems to me, people are pointing fingers at JJ this game. King on the top line other games. Our PP sucking, our 5on5 sucking.

Beside the fan on the shoot today, Jack was fine.

As for the other problems. They seem like coaching decisions to me. This team is poorly coached when faced with problems. If we lose one or two games in a row, the coach seems to go in panic mode and shuffle lines on the go and try out new things.

I believe coaching staff needs to reflect, get a game plan, or be replaced. Thats just my opinion.

@MiniKing, Well said. I honestly dont believe JJ to be the devil everyone makes him out to be. That first goal everyone is pointing at JJ, but DD played it very poorly for someone that is supposed to be one of the best D-men in the NHL.

All around though the team and coaching staff are failing. Not just one or two players. The PP needs something. Other than the geezer line the other lines have no identity. And we need to stop playing wheel of rookies with call-ups from Manchester.

@goldilocks I just read TM’s comments about the play and apparently my angle was off because where I was sitting it was a major mistake by Johnson…not a bad read on his part but a horrible play. I haven’t seen the replay because my baby sitter interrupted my recording. So, I admit my error. However, seems like these bad luck plays by Johnson inevitably turn into goals. Therefore, no hard feelings and I look forward to reading your posts in the future.

@Daren, Actually, I just realized that we are looking at the two different situations on that particular play. JJ should have taken a chance when the puck was loose in the slot. So his anticipation was good. But he also could have made a safer play when he saw the pressure was coming. He could have tipped the puck instead of shooting. Knowing that only DD was behind him, he had to make sure the puck stays in O-zone. That play could have gone either way. Unfortunately, it went bad for us. Let’s hope he won’t make the same mistake again. If he does …well, we may be on the same page next time.

One other thing to think about…we have several key FA’snext year, I believe they are Handzus, Smyth, Williams; who is going to fill in for them? Are they going to ask for more money to sign? We can lose 3 of our top 6 forwards next year and probably not have sufficient replacements. Not looking good now or next year considering management likes to sit 10-15% below the cap.

@demob, Smyth is not a FA next year. He has one more season after this one and a NTC. Willy is off to a great start but you can’t bank on him being healty 100% of the time. He just scares me everytime someone checks him. Handzus I would offer an extension to, but not at what he is making now….maybe like a 2.5 – 3 mil deal. However there are so many centers in our system that I can’t see him being resigned. But honestly i would be happy to lose all of those guys if we landed Zach Parise.

I now dread game day. Do I have a choice to watch or not? Yes, but not really. ( I HAVE TO WATCH ) I was always wondering what people were really trying to say about JJ. I don’t know why it took me so long, but I REALLY get it now. His last 3 or 4 games have been ugly at best.

@jess, or we can blame them all. but i do see the lack of “putting his foot down” or” laying down the law” TM is missing. Yeah, patience is nice…only for a short while until your team starts slacking off, then you need someone to put them in their place. and i haven’t seen any of that happening with TM. These are young players who i’m sure get distracted and someone needs to smack them around a bit to gain back their focus.

@demob, That should have been done this past off season. Instead DL wasted the summer chasing an egotistical player that already proved wouldn’t take less money. At least he didn’t over pay and strap the team financially for the next 10+ years.

Wow this board is pathetic. No team in the NHL is going to win 82 straight games. But reading the comments on here the Kings are the worst team in the NHL. But if they win, they are the best. True fans support their team no matter what and analyze the whole game and not just the mistakes. You all have a nice season as I will no longer be part of this negativity as I see many others have already done. This is one TRUE fan who still has a lot of hope. GO KINGS GO!!!

WOW, when is it wrong to hold your team accountable…I’ve always said we need to get better in certain areas…last season…off season…when we were 12-2 and now…What’s sad is where are all the fans who were saying “In Dean We Trust” and crap like that…they only are here when things go well. Tell me one team who doesn’t always look for the opporutnity to get better…right now the Kings need to “do something” to get better. They will not get better with the players they have now. They will be better when they are healthy but still will be lacking depth with the top 6 players…Hope doesn’t get you anywhere…action does. So keep hoping True Kings Fan. I’ll keep rooting for the Kings and will voice my opinion when I feel management is letting the fans down.

@lenman, Obviously the team misses Poni and Mitchell, that being said they still need a finisher on the 1st season to take the pressure off Kopitar. Even when the Kings were winning they still needed that finisher.

@lenman, I’d like to believe that most of us here are TRUE fans. We care about this team which is why we want to vent some of our frustrations that the way they’re playing is not acceptable and things have to change. Mitchell and Poni are missed, yes, but not to a point where the whole team starts to play down to the competition. This is still a very good team with solid goaltending, but right now they seem to be going through the motions lacking intensity and urgency. If they can’t get up for the defending Stanley Cup champions, they sure as heck better be ready against the Ducks who play in the same division. I will be shocked if they lose on Monday night, but devastated to see them play poorly. Luckily there is still time and with a few wins in a row, we’ll be right back in the hunt. Still, it’s obvious that this team needs to make a change or two if they hope to get far in the playoffs and not just settle in at the No. 6 or 7 spot. Let’s stay positive because I don’t know how things can get worse right now. It wouldn’t hurt to boo a little on some of their unsuccessful PP’s, just because we fans care.

Well, Simmonds on the first line worked out well. Oh and that Dwight King, he’s a real game changer. We aren’t appearing to be a good team going through a losing skid, we look like a horrible team, that’s merely satisfied with it. Oh and Jamie Kompon is a total keeper. Silly me, I thought the organization was actually starting to care.

Like a few have stated in previous posts. Something has to give, and you can’t trade the whole team so the next logical step is to fire the coach. Seems like the players are starting to tune him out. If the coaching staff can’t motivate professional athletes it is time to find a coach that can! JJ needs to go. I was a huge jj fan when the Kings traded for him, and now I’ve given up on him. Not a smart hockey player. He might have skill, but you need to use your head too.

Some of the comments here really surprise me. Anybody who expected more than the team has delivered so far hasn’t been paying attention. We are not an elite team. We are not as good as Chicago/Vancouver/Detroit/San Jose and probably a few others in our conference. Management has not delivered the elite players we have needed, and have instead built a good but not great team that is tenacious and fun to watch but not good enough to seriously contend. If you want more than that, you better root for osmeone else. For now, and into the foreseeable future, this is what we got.

agree…we lost to Vancouver last year and they are alot better player for player and we added Poni and Mitchell…doesn’t change much for the kings. As for rooting for someone else…No Way…I’d rather suffer. Anyhow, these message boards do help with some stress relief.

we have the talent we just need a leader…….mike keenan or someone like him .tm is not a leader and the only thing he knows is hoe to screw up line combinations.
lets face it these are high paid professional athelets
they need motivation and a good game plan……how many times can we miss the net we need these guys practicing shooting drills daily and it will become second nature.
its like a golf shot you cant close your eyes and hope it goes in………….tm needs to go he sucked last year and your seeing the same this year these guys are confued and pissed off……..too many rookies in key roles…….the good teams will exploit that.
dl get off your chair and get on the red line to every gm in the league and get it done …….were tired of this crap…………we should have had iginla and we blew it ….give them whatever 3 minor leagers and a draft pick………get er done or get the hell out were tired of watching phoenix and san jose above us in the standings……..we were here before them and were still trying to cement our identity…..diguisting.

JMFJ just got crowned a new nickname by me and my buddy. JSOBJ. He sucks balls. Can’t make a decent pass. Can’t hit the damn net with any of his shots. The breakdown with the 1st goal was because of him, even though Doughty shoulda done better with taking away the pass. And he always has this grin on his face after he screws up, has anyone else noticed? lol

@Rob, Yes Jack has made mistakes, but that will happen to all D men. Look what Kopi did to Pronger a few years ago….are you going to say he sucks? You can’t point just the finger at JJ…..its a team game. A forward should have recognized him jumping up into the play and fell back to join DD on the 2 on 1 goal they got. Shots from the point are not getting to the net period…..so I would think that is a coaching issue not a player issue. Jack is fine, but I would have to say he seems more comfortable with Scuds than MG.
