The Blackhawks broke the scoreless tie with 9:24 remaining in the second period. The Kings had a strong scoring chance, but Jack Johnson had his shot attempt from the high slot blocked, and Chicago defenseman Duncan Keith pushed the puck ahead to start a 2-on-1 break. Patrick Kane passed across to Patrick Sharp, who scored to give Chicago a 1-0 lead.
Dont know what Drew was doing there. Looked like he couldnt make up his mind between taking on the shooter or taking away the pass.

@LomitaKingsFan,
Drew was trying to confuse Kane, basically by swinging his stick and such to make Kane screw up. It didn’t work there obviously but it was still a good play by Drew. I think the blame goes on Johnson.

@91ChargerSrt8, Johnsons gets his share for sure. But DD needs to take away the passing lane and not wave his stick trying to screw up the puck carrier.

JJ is too much of a liability on the blue line, how about moving him to LW?
[Reply]
Not great play by JJ and DD left Quick out to dry. DD has to take away the pass and let Quick focus on shooter and DD just didn’t do anything to take away the pass.
[Reply]
Can we please work on D-man accuracy? Johnson, wide, Scuderi, wide, Scuderi, way wide.

@cjms,
Agreed JJ cant hit the fricken net. Get him of the point on the PP. Check out my post on the quarter way grade and see what I said about Westgarth and Scott. Now Scott that is an enforcer.
[Reply]
JMFJ should be just JMJ Jack Minus Johnson
[Reply]
dont know which was worse, chicago scoring or westgarth getting ruined?

john scott 1, kevin westgarth 0

Bad gamble by JJ. Lack of on-ice awareness. No need for big slapshot with 3 players in deep.
[Reply]
@lomitakingsfan, I thought the same thing during the live play. Seeing it again in replay, it looked like he was focused on the pass (as he should be), but was favorig the passer trying to get an angle advantage.

@Vaporhockey, You actually think that Westie went into that thinking he’d get the win? The guy is far brighter than that. He also knows that a fight doesn’t just energize the crowd…
[Reply]
That wasn’t dd’s fault. Patrick Kane sauce, nothing either quick or DD can do.

When Justin Williams starts hitting people, you know the game is not going in a good direction. *headdesk*

Westy finally using his head …

Impressed with Westgarth…he knew he was going to get owned, just trying to get the team fired up

@JacquesQ,
Agreed. Yet there are still those who think Clifford is enough to handle business on this team.

@EncinoMan, IMO, Clifford has yet to decide if he is going to be an enforcer or a power forward. I think that there is certainly a void on this team in respect to having a heavyweight, but I think that is a product of TM’s style…very passive, which doesnt work when other teams take runs at your star players. Someone like Brashear would be a good addition.

@JacquesQ, Brashear is the slowest person in the NHL….. I am not a huge westie fan, but he did his job, take on the biggest MF out there, win lose or draw…. that guy has 4 or 5 inches on him.

@JacquesQ,
We could get Scott who just wasted Westie for a bag of pucks. Do it…..

@EncinoMan, from playing at high levels of hockey within Canada, seeing your teammate getting his face beaten apart doesn’t always lift the team. a loss is a loss.
Westgarth got hammered, for a Princeton guy he should have paid attention more in class.
[Reply]
when we win the faceoff the defenseman needs to to take the slapshot from the point instead of always looking to pass
[Reply]
Westgarth took one of the worst beatings I’ve seen. It was nice of him to cushion Scott’s fists with his face.

Kings have no finishers. Well Dean, you have plenty of centers and defensemen in the system…time to make something happen before Kopitar goes to waste.

@johnjuan, The Kings have more players in their system in their history then they ever have. But Kopitar is on an island and needs help that has some experience.
