There will be one personnel change on the Kings’ power play tonight, with Alec Martinez replacing Jarret Stoll on the point on the second unit. Martinez had four power-play goals in 20 games with Manchester this season, and is known for his quick shot, so it’s not difficult to see what the Kings are thinking there. The Kings’ power play is struggling, and tonight they face the Canadiens, who have the highest penalty-kill percentage in the league this season, a designation that used to belong to the Kings until they started slipping on the penalty kill as well. Murray talked about the recent power-play effort…
MURRAY: “We feel we’ve been moving the puck pretty well. We have recovered pucks the way we would like to see it, in recent games. We still have to get more to the net. We’re not shooting enough from the blue-line group. To me, whenever power plays are not going well, that’s where it has to start. Hopefully it starts tonight.”
Change is whats needed, smart mve on TM’S part

I think it is time to change the look of the PP…Jamie Kompon needs to step his game up. Teams are not fooled by the looks the Kings are giving their opponents. The PP is old and Jamie needs to come up with some new schemes.
The PK is doing okay still…I like Lewis a lot as he brings good speed and discipline on the PK…when Mitchell and Poni get back we’ll pick up where we left off on the PK with them. 5 on 5 too!
Let’s Go Kings! Step Your Game Up!
Prediction: Kings 3 Canadians 1

@TD, I completely agree. Seems the only look we give is a static umbrella.

@KingsfaninWNY,
wouldnt mind seeing Lewis there for a period of time. if King gets 3 or 4 games there, Lewis should get something.

@KingsfaninWNY, i agree. i like Richie more but Clifford is showing some fire and skill. for 19 yr old the kid is cutting it in the nhl. i like how he’s not easily intimidated by the other teams vets.

The problem is Doughty, he isn’t getting shots on net. If he gets it going, problem solved.

@Mike, I agree. He’s been real hesitant on that one-timer. His shots are hitting more shins than normal. He’ll get back on track…..I can feel it !!

What? And Greene hasn’t been stripped of his “A” and been sent down to Manchester?! What an Outrage! /End Sarcasm.

@Crown Royal,
I just hope that he can lead us to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, a place where Matt Greene has already been.

@Belexes,
Was it because of Greene that they got there, or Chris Pronger?

@Belexes,
Crown Royal – ” Still don’t like Greene on a team that is hoping to win a championship. Just the way I see it.”
Face it, Greene has seen more championship play than just about anybody on our team.
Winning faceoffs cleanly will solve a great deal of the power-less-play of this team. Solve that and you will have more shots on goal guaranteed.

@Mugsy, True. Zuess has been brutal on the face offs.

@Belexes,
Perhaps, and how many cups has he won, exactly?
Keep in mind the Kings are the youngest team in the league so it stands to reason few if any of the players would have played in the finals…Come to think of it Williams has a ring and Smyth has seen a few playoff games too!

@Crown Royal, Your good at kicking the hell out of Greene. I need to step my game up and blast Bruce Mcnall and Barry Melrose even harder!

@puck73,
The only reason I started in on Greene again today was the comment made earlier on this topic by Belexes.
Somehow my answer to another post yesterday to someone else was blown out of proportion and that apparently or allegedly I think Greene should be striped of his A and sent to Manchester! I never made any such comment.
I’m pretty straigh forward in what I say and try not to mock others unless mocked myself. I will not take that kind of juvenile crap from anyone on this site.

@Crown Royal, I think you make persuasive arguments and I enjoy your posts. You are passionate and well reasoned in your explanations..it motivates me to throw more gas on Mcnall, and Melrose..2 people who helped dismantle a team that I loved at that time.

@puck73,
McNall did turn out to be a crook. He also blew the salary structure out of whack when he raised Gretzky’s salary. He had promised Walter Gretzky that Wayne would always be the highest paid player in the league. (I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Walter at some length and a truly nice man). Anyway, McNall at least brought a winner to L.A. for awhile.
Melrose was a pretty good “player’s coach” I think. Have spoken with guys who played for him in L.A. and they thought he was O.K. He obviously was loyal to players he had coached in the minors like Marc Potvin and Gary Schucek who he brought to L.A. so he had some redeeming qualities. He was in dire finacial straights when coaching the Kings due to bad investments so he and “Brucie” had some things in common. The Kings were weak at center in the ’93 playoffs and finals so I don’t think everything was his fault. Not defending him but I don’t hate him either.
