Let it be, let it be…

Below, you’ll find the Fox Sports West version of the replay of the disputed Ryan Smyth non-goal from last night. For those curious, I talked to a member of the TV crew today about the review process. The review staff, in Toronto, is able to control the feed overhead cameras in the arenas — in this case, that was useless — but otherwise the folks in Toronto are looking at exactly what you’re viewing at home, the replays from the telecasts. The broadcasters are expected to put every available replay on the air, but there’s no way to enforce that and there’s no communication between the Toronto folks and the TV production trucks at the arena. Just a little tidbit there…

I asked Terry Murray today whether he addressed the incident with the Kings, in terms of letting it go. The Kings have a huge game tomorrow against Montreal, and I wanted to know if Murray felt the need to tell his players not to dwell on the controversy…

MURRAY: “I addressed it right after the game last night, in the locker room. My message was, the game should never have gotten to three seconds on the clock and a review for a goal. It should never have got here. That’s a game we should have put away before that. You have a lead, and you’ve got to be able to protect that. We had a lot of great opportunities. We should have capitalized on it. In other situations where we got off-page and were turning pucks over in the neutral zone, that’s something we have to get away from doing, and be more consistent in finding what works and staying with that program.”
