End of first: 1-1

The Kings nearly scored a go-ahead goal in the final minute, but officials ruled that the post had been dislodged before Wayne Simmonds shot the puck into the net. (It also appeared that Matt Carkner deliberately pulled the post away) Shots were 12-8 in favor of the Kings in the first period.

@CWW, wasn’t that blatantly obvious?! Blind refs go figure.

4th line looking decent. King just not the answer on the first line. The guy looks like he’s pulling a trailer all over the ice.

Quick being his usual awesome self.

@KC23, whenever I see the 4 line spending quality time in the D-zone I get shivers. That’s nothing but great to see.

Isn’t that an automatic penalty, or penalty shot? Or is it only if the ref catches it?

    mcsorleyfan Reply:

@LomitaKingsFan, it’s a question of intent, and the refs don’t have the benefit of watching the replays we do. Also, that call must be made by the refs on the ice, not the officials deciding the validity of a goal.

I appreciate Fox trying hard not to come across as a homer, but that was so fricken obvious that guy pulled the net off on purpose.

Far too unfortunate that Carkner pulling the net off is a non-reviewable play. I do not even think the referee put any thought into whether or not Carkner pulled the net off as the play was happening, as his focus was primarily on whether or not the puck crossed the line before the net was dislodged.

Yeah, I’m wondering what he’d have to do to be called for deliberately moving the net…stand there and lift it up?

I’m thinking the next time someone breaks a stick or something like that, the Kings need to “accidentally” knock the net off, just to make a point.
