Murray, on possible changes

Here’s what Terry Murray said today, after the team meeting, about whether he would consider making any line changes tonight…

MURRAY: “I’m thinking about that. What I’m thinking is that I need more minutes from the fourth-line guys in a back-to-back situation, and probably every game. Certainly last night, we got into a lot of penalty kills and power plays, and it’s very demanding. I just feel like I’m going to take a look at adding a veteran to the fourth line, maybe moving Cliffy [Kyle Clifford] to another area, another line, maybe moving Westie [Kevin Westgarth] up. I’m not sure what I’m going to do yet. You get three rookies on one line, and last night they were a little exposed. So if I add a veteran to either wing, it might help alleviate some of my concerns.”

One thing that won’t change, Murray said, is the inclusion of rookie Dwight King on the first line. Last night, in his second NHL game, King played on the first line with Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown and had one shot on goal in 11 minutes, 49 seconds, all but eight seconds of which came at even strength.

MURRAY: “I didn’t mind him, actually. … I liked what he did. I thought he was on the puck. He had some strong play along the boards in the offensive zone. He had good awareness to the game, so we’ll give him another look there.”
