Handzus postgame quotes

Michal Handzus’ postgame thoughts…

(on his shootout strategy…)
HANDZUS: “I don’t really tell myself, before, what I’m going to do. I like to just go in and watch the goalie and just go from there. I’ve got a couple moves that I can rely on, but I always decide just right in the moment. A lot of guys tried moves, and he was pretty deep in the net, so I decided that would be a good way to shoot.”

(on being the shootout “closer”…)
HANDZUS: “It’s easier when you go later, I think. Kopi always goes first, and it’s the toughest thing, I think, to go first, because you don’t really know. After watching five times, you pretty much know what is his tendency, and I think it’s a little bit easier when you go later.”

(on ending the losing streak…)
HANDZUS: “It’s huge. We said it before the game. It’s a great challenge for us. It’s the first adversity we’ve had this season, and it’s how we grow as a team. I thought we didn’t play as well, but we stuck with it. It’s a tough game, back to back, three in four, but I thought in the first two periods we were moving good. In the third, they came out hard, but I thought the guys stuck to it. We stuck to the system and it’s huge. I think this two points is huge for us right now.”

(on Quick’s play…)
HANDZUS: “He’s great. Right from the first game of the preseason, he’s great. He feels confident and we feel confident when he’s in there. Obviously this game was pretty much his game, and that’s what you need from your goalie. He stole the game, especially a back-to-back game. You need the goalie to have stole the game, and he stole it for us.”

    What's the frequency, Kenneth? Reply:

@Jay Go LA Kings, I wouldn’t say he stole it. I’d say he was the difference. People are getting a little forgetful of the team in whose building the Kings won, and how well they’re playing.

Handzuis has the best shootout percentage of all Kings and yet Murray decides not to use him in shootouts until late. Murray needs to chose him sooner, plus he scored tonight…

@jason, Maybe his shootout percentage is so high BECAUSE he shoots late? Correlation vs. Causation. Debate.

@jason, don’t forget, you’re not seeing how well or how poorly he does in practice.

So so clutch. Was yelling at the TV to bring in Handz every guy after brown. He really should be the third or forth anchor always. Boom, corner, done.
