Brown postgame quotes

Dustin Brown’s postgame thoughts…

(on breaking the losing streak…)
BROWN: “It’s a big win for us, two points, and that’s really, at the end of the day, all that matters. Considering the situation that we’re in, with travel and back-to-backs and losing three in a row, it doesn’t matter how we got it done. We got it done, and now we can focus on the next game.”

(on the Bruins’ comeback…)
BROWN: “They’ve got a good team. Again, we got into some penalty trouble and they have a pretty good power play. They got the tying goal on that, and it’s something we have to keep a focus on, discipline. I don’t think the penalties were of the same nature as the last couple games. I don’t know if they were just `hockey penalties.’ Some of them, I don’t know if they were even penalties. But we’ve got to bear down on the PK. We’ve been doing a good job all year. We’ve got to continue to. It’s been sliding the last couple games. We’ve just got to get back to it.”

(on Quick’s game…)
BROWN: “He was probably our best player tonight. They had, what, 40 shots? He had to make some very difficult saves. He normally doesn’t have to make that many difficult saves, and tonight he had to make a few.”

    “Probably” our best player? No probably. Only definitely.

    (And an honourable mention to Trevor Lewis. Best game so far.)

    @Hat trick,

    did you notice how even Karma got tired of the bad calls there near the end?

    of course i’m glad the ref wasn’t seriously hurt, but OMG! then don’t make bad calls against the kings!

    @rontheking, Lol yeah that was bad. ya know i wish they would move those line refs on the other side of the boards behind some glass. two more bodies on the ice is just two too many. if they go offsides blow the whistle. we got two refs out there and one of em can drop the puck. does anyone really care about them signaling that the entry is good?

    Boston just outplayed us the last 40 minutes. This was the “bend but don’t break” game. I know all of you are going to jump down my throat when I say that Kopitar has to be better offensively. He’s a great player but the Kings need him to be our game breaker on offense. Defensively he is incredibly sound.

    I don’t think it’s a matter of who he is playing with right now. OF course every center needs a complimentary winger to rack up points but that is not in the cards right now. At nearly 7 million dollars I want more offense out of the kid. That’s not a criticism, that’s a compliment.

    @Bonvivant1, dude i can’t agree with you more about Kopi especially during the 3rd period. i was hoping that TM would stick him on the 3rd line and put simmonds up there.

    @Bonvivant1, well i agree with you. even Foxy mentioned Kopitar needing to step it up on the PP especially.

    @TinaBeana, I keep thinking the Kings need to show Kopi some video of Ziggy Palffy working off the half-wall, because that’s how you do it.

    @Bonvivant1, Also agree. IMHO Kopitar has been our worst PP player of late. That silly umbrilla that never does diddle squat and never ever changes is so pathitic.

    Kopitar gets it on the half boards … and waits and waits and waits until the entire defense has plenty of time to cover the passing lanes.

    Man, I’m so sick of it.

    @KC23, Kopi may be getting tired of this “system” TM needs to loosen the reins a bit, but Kopi also needs to make the best of things, this team is winning so somethings working.

    I will just say this now…..We may be seeing something very special happening with Dustin Brown, his game has so elevated this season, he looks like a totally different type player when he’s in the offensive end, and still is a monster taking the body. Speaking of taking the body, I think this has been the teams biggest problem during the losing streak, they are not being physical enough, that playing style had a lot to do with the 12-3 start.

    I felt if they could be 17-6 at the end of this month that things would be VERY good for them. They have to win out for the rest of the month for that to happen, so probably not going to happen. I’ll take this win, because they really shouldn’t have gotten 2 points, really shouldn’t have gotten 1. The rest of the month doesn’t get any easier.

    Things are fine Kings fans!! Everyone enjoy this win, they ain’t easy to come by on the road.

    @Shotongoal,

    I disagree about Kopi, he doesn’t seem the same player. I’ve yet to see him take the puck wide and power to the goal. He’ll settle for the dumb in or stay on the boards. In fact there was a game against Dallas last year where he did the move around the outside of the defensemen and came in on goal and the other D from Dallas leveled him and he hasn’t done that move again – ever. Just not seeing Kopitar or Doughty. I think they’ve been replaced by imposters.

    @Shotongoal,

    Ha Ha dumb in! Freudian slip. ‘Dump’ obviously.

    rontheking Reply:

    @KC23,

    they’re becoming too static…a guy should dish and then head towards the net. not enough movement by any of the players without the puck IMHO–there’s no law that says they can’t skate around.

    Man our Cap sure had the right words.All that really matters is the 2 points.I really got tired of hearing the play by play guy from Boston saying,”what a save by Quick.Come on guys can we get some help for our goalie.Way to shut them down in the shootout,MVP kind of stops for Quick.I’m sure Alot of people havf got the answers for the Kings,I don’t I just keep watching and enjoying the way we fight on.Hockey has a long season ups and downs are going to happen.Let’s hope our next game is somewhat tighter on defense.It seems like we are confused out there.No finger pointing from me,just tighten it up EVERYBODY

    Its time to get Kompon of the PP and replace him with Stevens

  8. zulov says:

    Yeah, the PP is awful. The line up changes didn’t help. The best offensive chemistry I saw on the kings all night was a 4 on 4 when Kopi was out with Williams. Why not play Kopi, Williams, and Zeus with JJ and DD? Best scorers plus a big body.

    And its time to get King off the 1st line – he is a 4th line player at best – WTH?

    In Kopi’s defense he has no one to play with. And on the PP no one is moving around – he gets the puck and everyone just stands around watching.

    No one Kopi is playing with is creating any space for him. When Brown gets the puck its head down and skate hard until he inevitably runs out of rum and shoves a pass which is usually deflected or intercepted. And King is not even worth mentioning.

    The only other King forward on the ice with control and presence of mind is Williams, and perhaps Stoll.
