Murray, on the D change

Here’s what Terry Murray said today about his decision to play Peter Harrold tonight, instead of Jake Muzzin, on defense…

MURRAY: “I just thought Muzzin had a tough game the other night. He seemed to be caught in between. He’s a young guy that has been playing at a very good level of us, and we’re happy with all of the things he has done. It’s just one of those games that just didn’t work out the way we had seen, so we’ll give him time to step back.”

    Fair enough.

A very reasonable assessment. And besides, the coaching staff is looking at Buffalo and trying to figure what players will be best for this game.

And it is tough for harry when he has to sit for 3 weeks. This is a win-win.

i agree with this move! I still dont get King on 1st line, but what other choice do we have on the current roster? I really hope DL pulls off a trade (as long as no core players) or someone else from MAN gets the call (moller/lokti, even though they are natural centers) I hope King proves me wrong

Anyone know why Parse hasn’t been placed on IR so they can call someone else up???

Parse is so screwed, out til at least February. I feel so bad for him because he had 4pts in 4 games and the line was flying. I hope he heals well and maybe we will see him in March.

Parse is on injured reserve. Dwight King was called up to fill out the roster. Peter Harrold is the healthy scratch.

@Rich Hammond, actually JAKE MUZZIN is the healthy scratch :)

    @Peter32,

Hes too litte. King is a better fit pysically, we’ll see if he can contribute more then Plan A, Plan B, or Plan C.

Plan D is the one guys! I have a feeling. Ha.

That’s 2 games in a row that Muzzin hasn’t looked very good. TM removed him prior to the SJ game as well for pretty much the same reason.

Hopefully Harrold plays a lot better than he did against SJ

@nykingfan, Ya think we are starting to miss the minutes that Mitchell was eating up, especially in the 3rd period when we are holding a 1 goal lead ?

@puck73, BIG time missing Willie. And Poni.

Thats 2 games in a row when most of the team didn’t play very well. Its a long season and these guys will get back to winning soon.

“He seemed to be caught in between”

More like he seemed to stand still, with no idea where the puck was, and gave nash the game winner.

@LAfan13, Muzzin definately had a tough night. That has and will happen to young defensemen like him that are new to the NHL.

yup, just a shame it happened during a tie game.

Muzz will be fine. He needs to stop thinking too much, and do what he did in camp and early on. I am glad for Harry that he is getting to play.
Everybody on the team needs to have fun, play hard, and back each other up. They’ll get it going tonite. GO KINGS!

Actually, it’s Scuderi who has been looking unsteady in the back end lately. IMO.
Bad covers and bad passes up the middle.

The only problem with the switch is Harrold is slow, I still like Muzzin better! But hopefully Bernie and the D make up for the last two games…on a side note…can we please stop talking like Parse’s 4 points were because of his stellar play, the other team threw the puck off his skate, and every assist, he did not make the pass for the goal he just touched the puck on it’s way or fumbled it along. And lastly the plus minus was due to a game against the Islanders, Murray knows he wasn’t the answer hopefully King can do something, but I at least like that if Simmer is not gonna be on the first line he got some pp minutes last game. Good luck King/Kings!!

TM would probably rather have had an experienced shutdown guy like Scuderi out there against Nash. Unfortunately for us, Columbus seized that chance.

But overall, it’s just part of the learning curve he is going through as a very young defenseman. 21 is the age when guys are still perfecting their game. Hope to see him back soon — he still has a lot of potential.

How about sending Muzzin down to get some progress on his game, and bring Martinez up to see what he can do.

Dammit, can we just get rid of Harrold already?

    YoBro Reply:

@Atraya, I’d much rather see Harry in there over Muzzin or Drewiske. Big upgrade in my estimation.
    Go Kings
