Looking at the Sabres

The Sabres are looking at a couple possible changes tonight. Their captain, Craig Rivet, is expected to return to the lineup in place of Chris Butler, and it’s possible that Patrick Kaleta might be in the lineup in place of Nathan Gerbe. Mike Harrington of the Buffalo News has more on this on his blog.

After today’s morning skate, Sabres coach Lindy Ruff was asked for his thoughts on the Kings…

RUFF: “They’ve got pretty good depth, when it comes to creating some offense. On the back end, they’ve got a couple creative guys back there too, in Johnson and Doughty. Doughty is one of the best young defensemen in the league, and maybe one of the best two-way defensemen, so they’ve got some weapons.”

Ruff was also asked specifically about the Kings’ leading scorer, Justin Williams…

RUFF: “He’s a good player. He’s a sneaky-good player. He’s got good legs and he’s really got a good nose for the net. The injury bug has hit him quite a few times, but when he gets by that, he has proven that he can put numbers up.”
