The Kings won’t be on the ice for their morning skate for another hour, but word is that Dwight King will move up to the first line tonight, with Brad Richardson moving back to the third line. Peter Harrold is expected to replace Jake Muzzin on defense. No word yet on tonight’s goalie. More updates to come…

@Hat trick, I agree with you but lets be honest here, losing Parse was a blow because he had pts in 4 games, but more importantly he opened up the ice and created more speed for Kopitar and Brown. Looking at our roster currently, who would you put with Kopitar ? Me, I would try Simmonds and see how that goes for a period or 2. Obviously it would be great to trade for an elite winger but I also understand that they dont grow on trees and most teams are very reluctant to trade them this early in the season. Hopefully King wont embarrass himself, we will find out shortly…stay tuned.

I was just not seeing the kind of player that I was hoping to see. I really haven’t yet. I’m just waiting for him to break loose, with his skill, to be able to do something very good for us.”
Sounds like TM felt that Kopi/Brown were doing it all by themselves, which they were.

@Belexes, He still had 4 pts in 4 games and I have seen all the games this year and I am telling you that Kopi and Brown were skating better and had more open ice. Lets be honest here..it is now apparrent after what happened that Parse was not fully healed and tried to come back too quickly, overcompensated because of it and ended up hurting his hip and now we probably wont see him til March, maybe. I am not calling this guy an elite winger, but the line as a whole played better when he was on it for 4 games.

@Belexes, He was injured, that is why he wasnt playing well and couldnt keep up. Kopi line was scoring with much more regularity when parse was there. Why wouldnt have TM have moved him earlier if he was doing such a piss poor job?
I knew Harrold would replace Muzzin after Jake was on the ice for the CBJ tying goal. He only got 2 shifts after that.
As for King, I would think putting him with Lewis and Westgarth would have been a better option last game, since he had an entire season with them last year. Oh well. Let’s see what happens tonight.

Coaches game plans, and attention to detail or so much better and intricate as well. Nowadays if you hold on to the puck even 1 extra second on the power play it seems their is always someone there to block your shot…The evolution of the game..incredible.

@Speedy, I am wondering the same thing. He did let his man score from the middle of the slot in the last game. Although, it may have been in part due to the change, so not completely his fault.
Or it may have been that TM wanted to see King with Kopi, but did not want the pressure of playing his first game, playing at home, and playing at home to overwhelm him. King was often at the side of the net in a position to score last game. This may work well with Kopi’s passing.

@Speedy, I think Richardson does deserve more time but it’s not like he hasn’t played with Kopitar and Brown before. That night he tricked I believe two of the goals he was out with at least Kopi (did I read somewhere that he hasn’t scored since that game?). The last game where he was up with guys he’s played with in the past, guys he’s been around for awhile, and guys he’s practiced with, was awful. Kopitar wasn’t minus-3 by himself (not saying it’s all Brad’s fault or anything) and they just didn’t look like a number one line at all, they didn’t really resemble a number 2 line either. I think that’s why King is getting a chance. Truthfully, I think they sent Schenn to the minors because they might be trying him as a winger to see if he’s gonna be on that line with Kopitar and Brown because no one else that seems to fit at all is healthy

@Speedy, Richie just has not produced the points that he should be. He is a good player, but not a first line player. He had a decent streak last year of points but that was all, just a good streak.
This year he has 75% of his 4 points in one game. And he has 0 points playing with Kopitar.
You say give him more time; but Parse, coming back from injury, didnt need more time. He was producing right off the bat, while still not at 100%.

Magnus SP is looking pretty good right now. I know people have a hard-on for Schenn, but maybe it would have been better to trade down, maybe even a coulple of times. Burke would’ve given his left nut to move up to get Schenn. We’ve needed help on the left wing for years and we’re not winning the Cup with that line as currently composed. Kings’ fans call Kopi’s line our top line. So it was interesting to hear the Sharks’ announcers constantly call Stoll’s line the #1 line. Can you blame them? Look at which line is constantly producing. DL’s done some good things, but this void has long been visible and unaddressed. Wow, everybody’s HOT this weekend!
Must be the Thanksgiving week coming up, and the trip to see the bleu, blanc et rouge…
…And, two straight losses.
Nothing a nasty little winning streak won’t cure!
I think we played Ok the last two games but yes there were a few defenses mistakes.
We miss Willie and Poni for sure.
Right now we have basically the same team as last year minus Fro.
Yes there is more experience but it is really the same guys. But other teams have matured a year, as well.
There is so much parity in the league.
What do we need. Look at how Columbus wed. night , who was the game changer? ( Rich Nash) Monday it was Heatley’s deadly shot, just stopped us in our comeback.
Look at how Dallas won their last few games. They have a game changer ( Brad Richards). I listened to those games on Sirius. Some of the best teams have one. We have Kopitar but he needs someone to play with him.
So I hope we can make a trade for a game changer, because I don’t see that we have one.
We do have a terrific team but one weakness. Even analysts on NHL say we are one top scorer away.
I respect that and agree.
I hope management feels the same way.

@Smilin, I respectfully disagree and will argue that we do have a game changer(s). Their names are Kopitar and Doughty, mainly Doughty.
I hate to do it again, but can we bring up the Kovalpuke argument again? NJ thought they needed a game changer as well.
The Rangers thought they needed a game changer in Gaborik, hasn’t really panned out to any sort of team success.
The Maple Leafs needed game changer in Phil Kessel; and it might end up being one of the worst trades in Leafs history.
Simply adding a star player doesnt translate to instantly more wins. Forsberg in Nashville, Sundin to Vancouver, etc.
Main point… Doughty IS a game changer

And I respectfully disagree back.
Look at how San Jose’s success changed with Joe Thornton, look at La Kings when Gretsky came here, look at Montreal with Cammalleri (even though we dont like him ) Look at Tampa with Stamkos, and Washington with Ovechkin , Dallas with Richards, Columbus with Nash. Take any of these players out and that team falters.
None of these teams have the defense and goaltending the kings have, and only Washington has the overall strength we possess.
There are positives and negatives of course as you noted. What New Jersey did was plain stupid, and in no way do I wish for such foolishness.
Drew last year had glimpses of Bobby Orr but I havent seen that yet this year.
Point is I and others believe we are one player away from cup contention.
Bottom line is we need someone terrific to play wityh Kopi. And we have trade bait without sacrificing our roster. And I believe DL has know how to do something great.
Further I sense he is looking right now. The fact that we are trying to put somone like King on the first line is crazy. I like him but no way is he a first line player.

Considering King was one of the top players in Manchester, it makes sense to play him as a top line guy here. If someone on the top line here goes down, you put the top line guy in his place, isn’t that what the “minors” is for?? I know you want to keep Manchester competitive, but in the long run, they are just the minors for when someone in the big league goes down, you can fill in a slot.
Wish the Kings wouldnt keep doing this (bring up a player and then put them in a different role)

Could be that DL is working on a deal and showcasing talent for other teams who are looking for a trade? I like the other posts regarding Luc and bringing him back, that sounds outstanding!!!We have hit a slight bump in the road and we will get back on track. I agree that the sooner Mitchell and Poni get back, the better. We definitley miss them on the defensive side of the game.

@DesertKing, I know you usually give good posts and I am 99% sure you were kidding about 45 year old Luc Robitaille.

@puck73,
I appreciate that. Since my jersey has the #20 on it, I have to admit am a big fan of his and can only dream about the greatest left winger in NHL history being on the ice with this current group of players. Reference being back on the ice as a player, well lets just say I was forunate to see him play and lucky (pardon the pun) to still have in the organization as our president. Is he really 45? He only looked 43 at Hockeyfest!

Rich, can you do some homework? How many points do the first line with all left wingers have, compared to the points of the second line.

I liked King however the top line, TM com’on you have to be kidding with what we witnessed.
Why not this………….
Clifford – Kopi – Brown (Clifford is adapting well, big body)
Williams – Stoll – Smyth (Geezer line)
Richardson – Handzeus – Simmond (speed on both sides)
King – Lewis – Westgarth (big body line for energy)

Clifford is the better choice for the 1st line then King.
