@Jarrod, Dude this has baen answered already in this thread, Quisp quoted CBC 13.8 near the top of the thread to show the justification for sending Schenn to the AHL for a conditioning assignment (strictly limited-term 2-week game-playing rehabilitation stint) ONLY. Go to about the 15th comment from the top of this thread and you can find the answer.

Far from the Kings being “the dumbest organization” this is actually the Kings taking full advantage of a loophole in the rules as they are written, and actually the Kings being very crafty about smart deployment of their player, in getting Schenn the game action he needs without exceeding their 9-game NHL quota for him, before he heads off to the World Juniors.

@Dave, Kink in the system…..Schenn hasn’t played, he gets the 14 rehab and gets to show the Kings what he can do against men in the AHL vs the kids in the WHL for the next two weeks. He’ll be playing regularly which he wasn’t able to do at LA.

Great move by DL, again!

@Sebastian, I think that’s the key; Quisp touched on it above. He hasn’t been playing, he gets the “reconditioning assignment” which allows him to play against men rather than boys every night. If he does well at Manch, he’s back with LA, probably for the season, if not, Brandon here we come.

ANOTHER brilliant move by DL! If he doesn’t get GM of the year, I don’t know who does….

@jet, Ditto…If you’ve every tried to play hockey with a bad groin…we’ll, lets just say you can’t skate at all…You have no push off whatsoever. I actually tried to play with one once; I was literally dragging my right leg all over the ice in a warm-up when the coach benched me. It isn’t pretty, even worse to try to play with and with surgery required it must be pretty bad.

Best of luck Scotty; you played well. The Kings will still be in 1st place, waiting for ya when you get back. Speedy recovery dude!

I think this is a brilliant move to get Schenn some playing time in Man. Schenn has nothing to prove back to Juniors. This is an opportunity for DL and the coaching staff to evaluate Schenn as a top 6 forward, playing at a higher level than juniors. Since we’re flush with the top 6 (at least at C1-Kopi and C2-Stoll), at the end of the 2-week conditioning assignment, DL can play him in a game in late Nov/early Dec and then decide if he really wants to send him back to Brandon.

I really don’t see this move as circumventing the CBA (unlike, say a $102M/17-year contract with a min. salary tail for a certain player on an Eastern conference team that’s near the basement)…
