To clarify a couple things… The Kings have not yet officially assigned Brayden Schenn to Manchester for conditioning. At this point, they’re in discussions with the NHL league office about the particulars of the transaction, and we should have definitive word on that fairly soon. It is believed that Schenn can do a 14-day conditioning assignment in the AHL while retaining his junior eligibility. That’s the plan, and we’re waiting for official word on that.
Also, Scott Parse’s surgery will actually be to repair the labrum in his hip, not his groin muscle. Dean Lombardi misspoke when giving the diagnosis, but regardless, Parse is expected to miss 3-4 months. Dr. Thomas Byrd is scheduled to perform the surgery in Nashville on Tuesday.
Did Parse re-injure it last night, or was he just playing with discomfort?

Since Zues played the rest of the game with Kopi and Brown, I’d say last night he definately tweeked something.

@Dominick,
Kinda clears up some of the mystery on why Parse got “demoted?”
Oh, and Dean isn’t gonna do a Lou and just send Schenn and worry about it later? Ha ha ha! Interesting to see if the League will allow it, as it shows the rest of the teams it can be done. I wonder…….

LOL The LAST thing we want to do is get in trouble with the League for circumventing the CBA!

I’m sorry to hear about surgery, but I do not believe he added much to that line, injury or not, he did not earn that spot. A goal off his skates is a junk goal.
Also, Jim Fox, as a color commenter, talks way to much. He steps on Miller all the time. One would think he was a superstar. If he would ONLY SUPPORT THE KINGS, instead of the referees. His so-called objectivity sucks. I would love to see a switch with radio to TV announcers. Better and more accurate calling of the game from the radio staff.

@Jamer, Parse only got to play a handful of games. He’s obviously got something or the coaches wouldn’t have him as a top 6-type winger. A goal is a goal.
I’d rather listen to Jim Fox’s “support” than just about any other teams anylst. Have you watched the Ducks announcers??? Getzlaf could crosscheck a guy in the face and it would be a bad call by the ref.

@Jamer,
Really? Jim does a great job and he and Bob seem to good friends. I love listening to both of them. My wife (not a big hockey fan) loves to imitate the way Jim ends sentences.
Did anyone else notice how Jim said he was reading the comments on here? He mentioned a comment left about the ice condition at Staples. I think it’s great that he wants to see what the fans have to say about the Kings and all things Kings-related.
The only thing I want to know is how did his hair go from super curly (in his old hockey picture) to straight now? Was he getting a perm?

@Jamer, Totally disagre. In the 4 games he played he got 3 assists and a goal. But never mind the numbers, the fact is I watch every game like a lot of people on this site and the thing that stood out the most was the fact that Kopitar and Brown had more room and speed and were producing better. You see, numbers arent always the issue, the biggest thing is …Did “said” player fit in and make the line better as a whole ? The answer in only 4 games was clearly yes. And no, I am not trying to compare this guy to Brett Hull or Luc Robitaille because he is not, but the fact is he made 2 players more effective. And remember this..If you want someone like Selanne, Penner, Semin, Richards or whoever this early in the season…it is gonna cost you big time !

@Jamer, I disagree somewhat. I love Bob Miller and agree that Jim Fox steps on his toes a bit, but I like his objectivity. If a call is bad he will say so, if a call is accurate he will say so. I agree with Friarking about our neighboring announcers, but I would include the Sharks announcers as well. I HATE when I have to listen to them, I would seriously rather watch the game muted than have to listen to them. Ducks announcers are the worst, Sharks are second worst. I have listened to others from the East Coast and they are pretty good mostly, but these two teams here, wow they are bad.
As for Parse, I don’t think he ever was able to fully participate. I will reserve judgment until he is healthy

@Jamer, you’re waaaaayyyy outvoted here on all counts. I’ll take objectivity to a lame-ass homer any day. Foxy has my respect. Parse missed the preseason, joined with an ongoing injury which now it appears was a torn labrum, not just a groin strain; he jumped in and was averaging a point a game- and making a lot more space for Brownie and Kopi. Parse was making quiet ice for his linemates, and was beginning to find those spaces himself, and crashing the net. There’s no such thing as a junk goal; you normally pay for those with a cross check to the back or back of the neck if a defender thinks he can get away with it away from the play. Ryan Smyth has made his living on gritty greasy in the crease goals. They all count, and they all cost.

Gee, I guess you hated Chick hearn too. He wasn’t anti-Lakers, but he always called it the way it was which is all you can ask for. I personally love listening to Miller and Fox and I will admit that sometimes they are human and either call something wrong or analyze something incorrectly. Nick and Darryl are really good also, so as Kings fans we should count our blessings for 2 good broadcast crews. If we could only find a way to have them call the Stanley Cup games when the Kings get there?????????

@Jamer, Actually, the first 4 or 5 years Fox did take shots at the refs as most ex refs do. But, he has not only prefected his timing with occasionally saying the refs might have missed one but he also has adjusted his commentary to fit Bob’s style of delivery. This is the best one-two team in the business.
PS with regards to not sticking up for the players, you must not have seen the pregame of the Islander’s game. He mentioned the physical play picking up with players outside the usual pounders circle. The last one being Richie, with tape of his crosscheck on the Star’s Dman from the previous game. In truth, Richie was high sticked to his nose and when the ref did not raise his hand, Richie went after the Dman and picked up a penalty. Fox could have easily said Richie needs to be better disiplined in the third period of a one goal game, but he took the positive side. If you listen, you will hear that Fox supports, respects, and compliments the Kings players more than most.

@Jamer, Hey guys, when I first started blogging on here in the last couple of weeks, someone gave me the advice of not feeding the “trolls”. I think that you guys are doing that. LOL !!
But seriously, BOB and Jim IMHO are THE BEST announcing team in just about any sport. They do tell it like it is at least 95% of the time (if not 99.99999%), warts and all.
Maybe Jamer just hasn’t watched a lot of Kings games and just caught this bad game to form “his” opinion. As for everyone else that replied to his post, well, we know who watches how our team plays every game and most can be objective about expectations for all of them.

Everyone is entitled to a opinion … But like it or not Parse was THE best candidate in our system for a first line left wing.
Yes, his goal was off his skate, but he already had like 4-5 points. It takes time to develop chemistry, especially being out of play as long as he was.
This is actually pretty bad news for us. We don’t have another skill player who us an LW that has some size to play 1st line.
I also feel bad for him … Bad luck … He has the potential for a great NHL career! Hang in there Parse – you will be back when the time is right and will go far!

I am betting that he injured his hip partly because of the groin injury. Skating around on a groin that is not 100% he might have been favouring on side or the other and thrown his hips out of whack over a period of time.
