As promised, here are the pictures from “Mullet Morning,” in honor of Ryan Smyth’s 1,000th NHL game. First, here are two members of that famous 80s Canadian-Slovenian pop group, Anze Kopitar and Jarret Stoll…
Matt Greene

Jarret Stoll and Jonathan Bernier

Wayne Simmonds

Kyle Clifford

love it, thanks for all of this rich

these are the types of good natured ribbing that keep a team loose
[Reply]
i wonder if the players are allowed to wear them during the game. cause i wouldnt be surprised if there are something written in the rules that u cannot wear anything besides the helmut.
if they can wear them, it would be SO COOL

@gcheng,
I would think they would be allowed during the pre-game warm-ups. THAT would be legendary!

@Cynic,
yeah if they did the warmups like that and you add the fact that the game is going to be on regular TV… man, you have all the makings of a city starting to fall in love with a team…

@gcheng,
I think there would be something on abuse of officials with the wigs being worn. If they see them, they’d be busting a rib from laughing so hard.
[Reply]
OMG that’s awesome, I about fell out of my chair when I saw Wayne LOL
[Reply]
Thanks for the pix. Must have been a fun morning.
[Reply]
Love this team and love that its more like a family with these guys willing to right for each other all come up with a joke for smithy just great overall
[Reply]
LMAO… Williams and Brown look amazing LOL
[Reply]
the 2 that made me chuckle out loud were Bernier under the mask and Clifford. it just looks too fitting on Clifford. like its been there before, i know he’s only 19, but that was great. thx Rich.

Put some horn-rimmed glasses on Clifford and Smyth and it would be dead-on.

@jayhay,
LOL! I thought the same thing! That mullet looked SO natural on Clifford, he could have been Ryan’s son!
[Reply]
very good Rich, well done……
you do serve us and the KIngs well, much fun and agree with everyone this is seems like a tight knit team with good fun and care for each other
[Reply]
Some of the almost look like Michal Handzus from his younger days. Remember that giant raccoon coming out of the back of his helmet?
All the same, congratulations to Smyth for reaching a phenomenal milestone.
[Reply]
Did Smyth know they were doing that before they all went out on the ice for practice? I would have loved to have seen the look on his face.
[Reply]
haha I loved that 80′s Canadian-Slovenian Rock group! Yes I know said Rock but it seems more fitting than pop!:) Is Brownie wearing a pony Tail? Classic Pics! Thanks Rich.
[Reply]
Smyth? They all look like Handzus!!!
[Reply]
AWESOME!
[Reply]
Amazing! It’s little jokes like this that make me even more confident in a team. On any team that I have played for, when you really care about your teammates, when you become close, you play harder for them – no matter what.
This is the type of fun that a team needs to have, especially a young team like this one.
[Reply]
I’d like to see Doughty get on the scoreboard, tonight. And/or our first line do some scorin’.
[Reply]
LOL
[Reply]
In a perfect world, Ryan Smyth gets a Hat Trick tonight and they guys throw those wigs out on the ice. “Mullet Trick.”
[Reply]
Looks like 70s hockey all over again only with helmets.
Who could forget LeFleur’s hair flying behind him as he streaked down the slot or Goring’s long hair flowing out of that helmet?
[Reply]
This is quickly becoming my favorite Kings team. Great fun watching this all unfold. So glad I can share it with other long suffering King’s fans.

@KC23,
Yeah this is really a pleasure. The Club keeps getting better and better. And no ridiculous “give it away” trades out of blue to spoil things.
We are finally seeing what top level NHL caliber hockey looks like night after night. The type of stuff Detroit fans had been treated to for years.
After being forced to endure mediocre hockey for years…Finally!

@USHA#17, funny, I came to say they did a really good job stitching it up, and the scar’s not so bad. Do you remember how disfigured he looked? I expected the next casual photo to look like something in a slasher flick.

@What’s the frequency, Kenneth?,
Yeah. The day he got it, he got a close up during the shoot out and looked like he got in a fight with a lawnmower. It looked hideous.
Glad to see the scar isn’t as bad as the impromptu stitch up job in Vancouver.

Really? More like a cash distraction.
Wouldn’t it be easier if telecasts demanded Heidi wear a bikini while Jim and Bob appear in thong bathing trunks?
Attractive to all sex and age groups.
