Kings face familiar foe

It’s been an up-and-down start for the Nashville Predators, who won their first three games, then lost three consecutive games in overtime, then won two and have now lost three in a row. The Predators gave the Kings some problems last season, winning three of the four games (including both at Staples Center). Overall, the Predators have won seven of the last eight games against the Kings. There are few secrets between the two teams. Terry Murray and Barry Trotz are friends, and Trotz’s system has been in place in Nashville since 1998.

They’re a fast team. They’ve always shown puck tenacity. They’re on it quickly. They’re on top of you. If you make one error with a pass, they’re going to hunt you down and make you pay the price, whether it’s a goal or a great scoring chance. I think their foundation is basically the way ours is. it’s build on the checking part of the game. With the goaltending that they have, with those two big guys back there, it’s a pretty solid team, year after year, because of their attitude, because of their goaltending, because of Shea Weber back there. They’re a team that is going to give every team in the league a lot of problems.

Trotz also had some praise for the Kings today, and for Drew Doughty in particular. You can check that out by clicking here.
