Assuming all is well in the morning, Drew Doughty will attempt to take/pass his “baseline” test tomorrow, that test being the final obstacle between him and a return to game action.

if DD returns for the TBL game, Stamkos [19 pts.] & St.Louis will be the big challenge….let’s hold them off the scoreboard…

@Real 7,
even if DD does, the challenge will be the same,
but TBL has weaknesses….goaltending is not their strongest suit, & I would think they are susceptible
to the counter attack….but first we must stop their big guns…

even if DD does NOT return etc….

I know this is not germane to this thread…. but is it wrong to start feeling sorry for Kovalchuk?
I’ll answer my own question. Yes.

@fourtunato,
Don’t feel sorry for him. His numbers will go up.
Don’t feel sorry for the Devils. Their numbers have been good for so long it won’t hurt them to experience a stretch like the Kings have gone through for far too many seasons.

@fourtunato, Exactly. I dont feel sorry for Kovalspud, Grossman, or Vanderboob. The fact is the agent, and the player had 1 goal, 100 million, and they werent going to accept anything less and they didnt. Since the team sucks now thats just too god damned bad! As far as I am concerned this was nothing but greed and selfishness that involved the 3 people I mentioned above and Lou Lamoureillo couldnt overrule the owner. You know whats funny though? Go check out Fire and Ice, The Devils blog..you wanna talk about comedy, I would say that 75% of their fans dont blame Kovalsgreed, they blame players like Colin White and David Clarkson..Hilarious! Tell ya what is even more telling..everyone on the NHL Network is finally figuring out what Kings fans have known for a while…Kovalsdweeb plays his own game and it doesnt fit with the rest of the team. He never won anything in Atlanta, and has had a big hand in helping put the Devils in the crapper…Couldnt happen to a more selfish jerk!

@puck73, haha, my friends and i were reading Fire and Ice and ROTFL. You’re right 75% of their fans are in denial but some of them are admitting the bitter truth. Worse now with Parise out. (Btw I heard a rumor of Jack Johnson and picks for Parise????) Anyway we dont have to worry about Wilya Shovelbucks anymore. Not our problem and i dont feel bad. Time to see how we stack up to the Best in the East not the Worst. Heres hoping Drew is feeling better because we need him to shut down Stamkos.

@Vladticular 8,
I think Johnson would welcome a trade frankly. I think he doesn’t like playing in Doughty’s shadow. He mentioned recently he waited a long time for this opportunity (i.e. to be the go to guy) while Doughty was out.

@puck73,
I kinda feel sorry for Kovy too. I really wonder if he ever second doubts signing there. Anyway, I saw him open many times, but players werent getting it to him. He seemed kind of annoyed and very frustrated (Us all knowing what he is capable of). Kinda felt bad for him….dont know why !

@Michael_DD8, Why do you feel sorry for this guy? Kovalspank and his agent both new what the salary cap was. #2 They both new that if they signed for this kind of money that the Devils would have cap issues and they would either have to trade guys, or they would have to dress less players. Grossman and Kovalchuk both knew the situation and they didnt give a rats ass about anything but 100 million so to feel sorry for these greedy businessmen is wasting oxygen.

@fourtunato,
And to think, NJ awoke to find themselves the lowest scoring team in the league.
Still any Kings fans who believe Novalchuk was the answer?
I love it when a demigod comes to ground.

@fourtunato, Uh, yeah. The guys a millionaire; so his team stinks, thats just karma for him being a greedy ***. That overpaid bozo made his bed, now he gets to lie in it. Besides he is going to make 100 million dollars, I will never feel bad for somebody who gets paid that amount of scratch to play a game that I love playing.

Oh, please don’t push yourself too hard, Drew. The news of Jordan Staal got hurt again an inch away from his come back, was disturbing. I absolutely hate if that happen to you. Take your time as long as you need.

agreed DD take your time big guy, as update article in Canadian Kitchener local paper today regarding Jr. hockey in Canada that concussions are 17 times higher then previously reported. Most go undetetected and effects players in their 30′s with vertigo type symptoms. Try the 50′s…….
I know what their saying, some days tough to walk in straight line after 5 years of junior hockey
Drew be sure, doctors no quick green lights

Dear Drew,
Good luck passing your test today. Remember to drink your milk and look both ways before you cross the street. Also maybe you want Wayne to drop you off. Also wear your warm sweater so you don’t catch a cold and stop stuffing your gloves in the mailbox. You are supposed to wear them. Eat your fruits too.
Love,
Kings Fans.

Should be one of the best games so far this season with their high powered offense going against our great defense. I like the size of both teams. The key for the Kings to win this game is defensive scoring. We have to play a five man game in the O-Zone. Our transition and breakouts have to be spot on. They have a big D which is not as mobile and we can exploit that.
[Reply]
Are the Kings head hunting All-stars or is it just coincidence that since DD has been injured that the Kings have sent Hossa and Parise to the injured list ?

The Kings are a big Club. Start with the Kopitar Monster and the Poni the BullDozer then add Handzus, Greene, Clifford and Westgarth and we’re as big as they come.
People are going to fall.
