Jarret Stoll’s postgame thoughts…
(on the game…)
STOLL: “It was a weird game, I thought. It wasn’t too much of a flow game. There was a lot of neutral-zone stuff and not a lot of penalties, not a lot of power plays. We definitely took advantage of the one we had, to get us going after it was 1-0 for quite some time. We were OK. We relied on Quickie again, to make some big saves, especially in the third. They outplayed us in the third. They were jumping. They were desperate, you could tell that in the third period. We got away with one a little bit.”
(on the fans’ booing of Kovalchuk…)
STOLL: “You just play the game. It was kind of funny to see their reaction. That’s great. I liked it. It was fine. Every time he had the puck, we did a good job of smothering him and making sure we had one or two, or sometimes even three, guys on him. He had nowhere to go. So it was a great team effort defensively.”
(on having the most points in the NHL right now…)
STOLL: “It feels good. We know there is a lot of work ahead of us. We’re 11 games in. There’s definitely tougher hockey and more important games to follow, so we’ve got to keep going, keep getting better. We know we’ve got a good team. We’ve got a lot of positives. We’ve got a lot of character. We’ve got a lot of good things going, but you’ve got to win games too. All that is talk unless you win out there.”
love you!

“All that is talk unless you win out there.”
Amen.
For the moment guys, just bask in the limelight of being #1 in the NHL. You deserve it.

So much for the Stoll “Trade Talk”….i’m guessing that was a little premature.

@puck73, It’ll come back the second we lose and Stoll didn’t score. You’ll see.

@puck73,
Honestly, it wasn’t premature. J. Stoll just simply pulled up his game a few notches to his credit and our happiness. He’s never been a 2nd line center in his NHL career, until now.
I’m really happy for him and glad he has made the jump. I hope it sticks because he’s proving he has the talent.
If Stoll doesn’t perform like he is right now, he’d be traded for scoring. I have no doubt. If he’s providing the scoring like he is now, he’s becoming the scoring we need with HUGE upside in the faceoff circle. Now he’s becoming a major asset. All credit to the player (And coaches for challenging him.)
Nice work Stoli! Keep it going!

@Cynic, sadly enough this tremendous start might result in higher trade value down the road, if the deal is done before he cools off…
But, let’s just say he doesn’t get traded, then hopefully he has the type of career year that we’ll need three others to have to get us to the cup. Willie and Stoll, and maybe JJ (with 60 assists from the point), is my choice for those three.
GKG!!!

@Cynic, Also Stoll has been victim of the defensive oriented system since he got here. One thing you can count on from Stoll is on him being defensively responsible. With the new system in place you can see him thriving as the puck possession style is opening up ice for him to do his thing. I’ve always rooted for Stoll and I’m glad he’s been showing Kings fans what he can do. All I ask is that he tries to hit the net!

@Danlikespez, Sorry…Stoll has never been an offensive juggernaught in his career…probably never will be.
But, as it is right now, I love the defense he brings, the face-offs he brings, and if he is going to have a career year on the offensive side, I’m not going to complain.
Most points in the NHL? Stamkos has 19 Rich, it says Stolly has 10….
