Familiar theme

Last season, Alexander Frolov got publicly called out by Terry Murray on Oct. 19. This season, he got publicly called out by John Tortorella on Oct. 29. Does that represent progress? After a 6-4 loss to Atlanta on Friday, in which Frolov skated with Derek Stepan and Brandon Prust, Tortorella said of Frolov, “He has to play better, he understands that. We’ve had a number of conversations. His strength is under the hash marks. But we need him getting more shots and around the puck more offensively. It hasn’t been a great line.”

Frolov has two goals and two assists in nine games. Alexei Ponikarovksy, essentially signed by the Kings to replace Frolov, has two goals and two assists in 10 games. Ponikarovksy has a plus-2 rating; Frolov is even.
