Wayne Simmonds declined to comment to reporters after the game. Terry Murray would not elaborate on the nature of Simmonds’ “lower-body injury” or Simmonds’ short-term prospects for playing, but said the injury took place late in the second period after a hit by Dallas’ Matt Niskanen.
MURRAY: “When he was entering the offensive zone, he had possession of the puck and took a check on that play. He came out in the third and tried it, one shift, and he just had a tough time there with twisting, turning.”
Looked more rib area related to me.

@Dan H.,
That’s what it looked like to me also. Maybe bruised ribs, hopefully nothing worse than that.

@Dan H., @AZ King,
UBO and LBO are not compatible.
Are you saying the Kings are lying about the injury? Perhaps it is a hip injury?

Hoping it’s a minor charlie horse that tightened up…

Rich, since you have been following the kings, have you ever heard anything about moving JJ to the wing? We have great depth at the blueline and the kid has offensive skill. He makes some mistakes in the D zone, to many times for my liking. Has it even been done before? I know the big Chi D-man did it last year but he was a big body just sitting in the crease. Thanks for the great job. Go kings!!!!!!

@Pesus,
Sounds like you are talking about Dustin Byfuglien, who is now with Atlanta. But I think that would be a mistake because they have been tryin to get him to settle into the roll on D.
When he was playing for Michigan, he was playing all over the place and probably would have no problem at that position. However they have been grooming him to stay on the blueline.

@Pesus, He had 3 assists tonight but also played unbelievable defense and 29 minutes.
What do you want from the guy? That was as good of a defensive performance as they come.

probably ribs…you can’t do the twist with sore ribs.

On that one shift he took after the injury, man, it just looked painful to watch. He’ll be out for a little while, will give the kids more chance to play.
[Reply]
it’s probably nothing serious since he at least made an attempt to play. he’ll be back in 2 games at the latest.

@blahblah, Unless it’s broken ribs, in which case it will be 6 weeks. Or a hip pointer, those take forever.
There are lots of injuries that he could try while the adrenaline is high but could still take him out for a while.

Simmonds watching you hold on to the puck until you decide to get rid of it is scaring the other teams.Great talent and heart you have.Thanks

Clifford will take his spot, and thrive. And when Simmonds comes back, we will be a better team for it.

Every time I see I see the term “lower body injury”, I automatically think he’s pregnant.

Poor dear – bitten by a trouser worm!

If Simmonds is out for a significant period, then this will be CLIFFORD’S big break,and he will probably stay with us fo the year.
Clifford & Simmonds=2 peas in a pod.
(I LOVE having them BOTH)

didn’t simmonds have a torn meniscus recently (1-2 years ago)? wonder if it is knee related. from personal experience you cannot twist and turn with a meniscus/knee issue.
