Terry Murray’s postgame thoughts…

(on the win…)
MURRAY: “You’re playing a division game, you get to bed at 3 in the morning and you’ve got a team sitting here fresh. I thought the guys worked very hard to get themselves ready for this game in the locker room before stepping onto the ice. We had a good start to it, and we were doing all the right things. As I said to them between periods, I thought we got away from executing with seven, eight minutes left in the first period, and turnovers were starting to happen through the middle of the ice and they were coming back at us. That was an area that needed to be corrected right away. I thought we made the adjustments that were necessary and played pretty good.”

MURRAY: “A nice shorthanded goal, very timely. Hey, it just shows that if you just keep shooting, and put pucks to the net, good things happen. Anything can happen. Same with Ponikarovsky’s goal. Simmonds drives wide off the wing, throws a backhand shot through the blue paint and a loose puck is there. So, attacking from low is a good play, and putting pucks to the net will make things happen for you offensively.”

MURRAY: “Quick was really good. He made a couple saves there in the second period that were simply phenomenal. Phenomenal saves, and those are the timely plays that good goaltenders, they make those plays in the right situations. Real strong game, solid game for him. I was real happy to see him respond the way he did.”

MURRAY: “It’s a great road trip. I addressed the team at the end here, when we came in, that this win makes it a great road trip. That was hard. There were a lot of late nights, travel, and to finish it off with a big win against a division opponent like this makes it outstanding.”
